PatagoniaPima Cotton Shirt - Men's

Proven and time-tested.

The Patagonia Men's Pima Cotton Shirt is a stalwart companion during powder-chasing road trips out west and post-powder day parking lot libations in the Pacific Northwest. Its easy-wearing nature comes from its soft organic cotton construction that's soft against the skin and durable enough to stand a little wear and tear from roadside tire changes and multiple nights spent sleeping out of your car up at the pass.

This is an awesome comfortable shirt that is great for any occasion!

Strangest Fitting Shirt I Own

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: Runs large
  • Size Bought: Medium

Backcountry provided a great purchasing/shipping experience for this product, and I wanted to love this shirt for a number of reasons: the cotton is soft and comfortable, the stitching and buttons are high quality, the weight of the material is ideal, etc. However, this is simply the oddest fitting shirt I have ever worn.

I'm 5'11", 170 lbs. with an athletic build and I ordered a size medium. I typically wear tailored or slim-fit dress shirts all day every day, and they generally fit pretty much across the board regardless of brand. Arm length of this shirt is spot on, but that's about it. The shirt is tight where it should be loose, and loose where it should be tight, and it almost seems to fit like an old-school men's pajama top. It's too short to tuck in but the hem doesn't lend itself to going untucked. It's tight across the shoulders/scapula but balloons throughout the mid-section.

I'm not sure what kind of body type this shirt is cut for, but it ain't mine. Which is a real shame because I love the brand and really wanted to love this shirt.

be careful with sizing

  • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
  • Fit: Runs small
  • Size Bought: L

Every button down that I own is an XL. I ordered this shirt in an XL and it was gigantic! I sent it back and ordered the L, no dice! The sizing seems to be very odd, just be aware

You should have put runs large if you had to downsize.

Comfortable

Pima cotton shirt is comfortable and true to size. Great for fall and you can dress it up and dress it down!

Very Comfortable Shirt

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: Large

If you know how Patagonia fits you, then this is a sure bet. It's a regular fit, so not relaxed or slim. For me that's a Large. It fits just as expected and is very comfortable. Another winner from my favorite apparel company.

Very comfy

  • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share

Bought this as a gift for my brother and he loves it. So far they have held up very well to being outdoors many days and he says they are very comfy shirts. Would recommend!

I have two of these--one XL and one L

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

The L fits pretty well and looks nice. The XL runs much bigger on me and is OK over another shirt and unbuttoned, but can look a little too big buttoned up--i liked it enough though to buy the better fitting L.

The Go TO shirt.

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: small

Patagonia makes great products, and this is one of them. High quality, good looking shirt. The fabric is extremely soft and comfortable. The shirt goes from casual down time to out on the town.

Customer Service

  • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
  • Fit: True to size

It's definitely a busy time of year but Backcountry you've got to do a better job inspecting your returns! You sent me this Patagonia shirt that was obviously ordered by someone else and then returned. I received it crunched up in a ball, unbuttoned, wrinkled with long blonde hair strands on it!!! Yuck! Matt in customer returns was great though...he's sending me another over night today. This is a gift for my son's birthday this coming Tuesday.

Good quality shirt

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: XL

This is a good quality shirt and seems to fit right.

Great Fit, Look and Quality!

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: Medium

Love this shirt. Fits amazing, looks great and the collar has stayed really well for me after many, many wears. Keeps you warm, but not uncomfortably thick to wear. Would recommend this to anyone who like flannels.

Looks good, high quality

  • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share
  • Fit: Runs large
  • Size Bought: Medium

Gave one of these shirts to my Dad last year, and since then he's purchased 4 more in different colors. Pretty high quality construction, and he likes how comfortable they are.

Fits Well, Looks Great

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: Runs large

I absolutely love this flannel. I wear it all the time and have no complaints. The relaxed fit is really comfortable and fits really well. I normally wear a Large and this fits a little big. I have absolutely no complaints and love to wear this all the time.

Excellent

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
  • Fit: Runs large
  • Size Bought: Large

I wear these to work and out and about town. Super soft and comfy with obvious quality of construction. The available patterns and colors are quite beautiful. I'd agree with others that they run a bit large in the body.

Great soft button-down shirt!

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: Runs large
  • Size Bought: Medium

I have a ton of button-down and flannel shirts; however, I routinely reach for the Patagonia Pima Cotton shirt when I'm getting dressed in the morning. Why? Well, let me tell you. The Pima Cotton shirt is a bit of a hybrid - it's soft and comfortable like a flannel, but not too hot to wear when the temps are in the 60s. These do run slightly large, and I'm a bit of a tweener, so I wear this shirt in Medium. My favorite color this season is the Saddler/Underwater Blue.

Comfort is the Key

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: Runs large
  • Size Bought: Large

I tend to waver between Medium and Large in Patagonia shirts and it depends on the described fit. This Pima Cotton Shirt is a relaxed fit and worked best for me best in Large. The Large is a bit roomy on me but the organic Pima cotton is super comfy and has retained its softness even after a few washes. My favorite time to wear this shirt is while traveling, for an evening out on the town, or even as an underlayer while spring skiing.

I agree with mic105235818 (see below) that this shirt can be tough to size depending on your body type. If you are tall and skinny you should go for a shirt like the Fezzman, El Ray (both regular fit) or the Birdshot (slim fit).

Comfort is the Key

Nice shirt, but strange fit

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
  • Fit: Runs small

I bought this and returned it because of the fit. I'm 6'4'', 175lb

The medium is too short in the arms and waste, and the large is really really baggy (even if you were a pretty broad shouldered dude)

Stunning! Simply stunning!

Great shirt!

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size

I love this shirt. I live in Southern California where it is basically spring and summer all year long. This shirts handles the heat really well and even when it isn't hot the sun can just beat down on you and this shirt is light enough to provide a little comfort from the sun while never overheating.

I don't do anything special in this shirt so I cannot speak to how well it will hold up on a backpacking trip across SE Asia or anything like that. I took mine to the Big Island of Hawaii and used it as a layer for hiking the national parks and touring coffee farms. It held up wonderfully. Did it wrinkle? You bet, but it's an organic cotton shirt so wrinkles are to be expected.

Many reviews mention sizing. I am 5'5" and 155 lbs. I was about 20 lbs. heavier when I purchased this shirt in a medium but even now I like the fit of the medium. Sure it has some room as this is a "relaxed fit" shirt, but for me that little bit of room is appreciated. A shirt that is too fitted feels like I might split the shoulder seam if I reach for something.

For what it's worth, I wear this shirt to church every Sunday and I receive a lot of compliments for it. I machine wash my shirt and then I hang it to dry and as a result it still looks like I just took it out of the package last week even though I have owned it for over a year.
