I have 2 versions of this shirt and each is an equal favorite. The lighter weight flannel material is strong, rugged, yet soft and comfortable to wear. The shirts never go in the drier to preserve the soft feel and perfect size. I wear a size large and have a 16.5 neck, 35-36 sleeve length, 44 chest, and 36 waist.
Purchased this shirt expecting it to fit like other Patagonia items I've purchased since Patagonia started to do a more tailored, standard fit in the past couple years. In contrast, this shirt is very boxy and much longer in the sleeves and length than other Patagonia shirts of the same size. For reference, from roomiest to snuggest fit: Patagonia Pima Cotton Shirt >J. Crew Relaxed Fit>J. Crew Slim Fit>Patagonia Vjosa River Pima>Bonobos Slim Fit. Essentially, it's the same as wearing an XL Patagonia Nano Puff when you usually wear a L Patagonia Nano Puff.
I purchased this shirt for myself and I love it. Most of my button down shirts were dress shirts so I decided to purchase something I could wear for leisure but still look nice. This was the perfect purchase. The material is soft and it fits true to the sizing chart.
So this Patagonia shirt looks great, but is no question made for a larger person.
In Patagonia button downs I wear a small, and this shirt was both long in the sleeve, and really wide. It simply didn't fit me at all. Again, I love the designs and the patterns for the shirt, but if you are on the skinnier side, you might want to find something else.
I bought this for my husband to wear casually and to work. He loves it! The organic Pima cotton is soft and comfortable and it looks great on. It is a little big in the stomach area, but it doesn't look too big. He normally wears a medium in Patagonia and other button downs and got a medium in this one.
I typically take care of laundering this shirt and I will warn you that the sleeves tend to wrinkle pretty badly, but nothing an iron or steamer can't take care of.
I just got this for my husband and he is a huge fan. He loves Patagonia button ups and how they fit, and this one is no different. The patterns are so great I'm debating buying another!
This is an awesome comfortable shirt that is great for any occasion!
Backcountry provided a great purchasing/shipping experience for this product, and I wanted to love this shirt for a number of reasons: the cotton is soft and comfortable, the stitching and buttons are high quality, the weight of the material is ideal, etc. However, this is simply the oddest fitting shirt I have ever worn.
I'm 5'11", 170 lbs. with an athletic build and I ordered a size medium. I typically wear tailored or slim-fit dress shirts all day every day, and they generally fit pretty much across the board regardless of brand. Arm length of this shirt is spot on, but that's about it. The shirt is tight where it should be loose, and loose where it should be tight, and it almost seems to fit like an old-school men's pajama top. It's too short to tuck in but the hem doesn't lend itself to going untucked. It's tight across the shoulders/scapula but balloons throughout the mid-section.
I'm not sure what kind of body type this shirt is cut for, but it ain't mine. Which is a real shame because I love the brand and really wanted to love this shirt.
Every button down that I own is an XL. I ordered this shirt in an XL and it was gigantic! I sent it back and ordered the L, no dice! The sizing seems to be very odd, just be aware
You should have put runs large if you had to downsize.
Pima cotton shirt is comfortable and true to size. Great for fall and you can dress it up and dress it down!
If you know how Patagonia fits you, then this is a sure bet. It's a regular fit, so not relaxed or slim. For me that's a Large. It fits just as expected and is very comfortable. Another winner from my favorite apparel company.
Bought this as a gift for my brother and he loves it. So far they have held up very well to being outdoors many days and he says they are very comfy shirts. Would recommend!
The L fits pretty well and looks nice. The XL runs much bigger on me and is OK over another shirt and unbuttoned, but can look a little too big buttoned up--i liked it enough though to buy the better fitting L.
Patagonia makes great products, and this is one of them. High quality, good looking shirt. The fabric is extremely soft and comfortable. The shirt goes from casual down time to out on the town.
It's definitely a busy time of year but Backcountry you've got to do a better job inspecting your returns! You sent me this Patagonia shirt that was obviously ordered by someone else and then returned. I received it crunched up in a ball, unbuttoned, wrinkled with long blonde hair strands on it!!! Yuck! Matt in customer returns was great though...he's sending me another over night today. This is a gift for my son's birthday this coming Tuesday.
This is a good quality shirt and seems to fit right.
Love this shirt. Fits amazing, looks great and the collar has stayed really well for me after many, many wears. Keeps you warm, but not uncomfortably thick to wear. Would recommend this to anyone who like flannels.
Gave one of these shirts to my Dad last year, and since then he's purchased 4 more in different colors. Pretty high quality construction, and he likes how comfortable they are.
I absolutely love this flannel. I wear it all the time and have no complaints. The relaxed fit is really comfortable and fits really well. I normally wear a Large and this fits a little big. I have absolutely no complaints and love to wear this all the time.
