Nano-Air Light Hybrid Jacket

As the old-timers used to say, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it." And while that adage might have worked just fine for your Granddad's steel frame pickup, the same philosophy doesn't apply to performance gear and clothing. So in the spirit of innovation and preemptively fixing things that aren't broken, Patagonia brings you the Nano-Air Light Hybrid Jacket—a versatile layering piece that offers breathable and adaptive warmth for high-octane adventures in cold weather.

Designed for trail running, climbing, and backcountry touring, the Nano-Air Light Hybrid continues Patagonia's Nano-Air tradition with its lightweight, durable, and stretchy construction. The innovative difference in the Light Hybrid lies in its airy waffle knit construction on the underarms, sides, and back panel, which efficiently releases excess body heat, wicks moisture, and dries quickly to ensure that you avoid clamminess and discomfort to stay dry and comfortably warm.

Much like its elder siblings, the Nano-Air Light Hybrid features FullRange synthetic insulation, which offers a surprising amount of warmth for such a light package, and stays mobile and stretchy as you run, post-hole, or ski your way around the mountain. DWR treatment protects you from errant moisture and light precipitation, while two hand pockets accommodate a pack or harness and offer respite for cold digits. Not to mention, the low-bulk cuffs feature subtle thumbholes for added coverage and easy layering.

  • Tackle high-octane pursuits of all kinds with this hybrid jacket
  • Lightweight, durable, and stretchy fabric offers mobility
  • FullRange insulation provides breathable warmth for active pursuits
  • DWR treatment fends off light precipitation on the trail
  • Knit panels regulate temperature and wick moisture as you move
  • Hand pockets are harness or pack compatible for versatile use
  • Cuffs feature integrated thumbholes for coverage and easy layering

Perfection

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: Medium

Had a regular nano-air hoody, wanted a lighter, hoodless version. I wear this thing all the time. Great with a baselayer for splitboarding down to 15F, for shoulder season cragging, and at camp on a cool summer night in the mountains. Great athletic cut for wearing around town, super soft! You won't regret buying it!

Like an R1 had a baby with a nano-air

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size

I really love this jacket. It's super comfortable, breathes amazingly, and is actually cut with a great shape (unlike most of Patagonia's jackets...) I'd recommend it to anyone as a high-activity layer, and in combination with an out shell as an extra layer.

Pros: Lightweight. Extra Comfy. Extra breathable, looks great, big pockets. Great shape and cut.
Cons: Not particularly warm. A tad smelly if you sweat into it for a few days. No chest pocket. Longest name ever.

I would say it's about as warm as an R1, but my R1 is super snug, so I use it as a baselayer on cold days. On those cold days, R1+nano-air light hybrid is about as breathable as you can get, moves moisture faster than almost anything, and is more modular and adjustable than a baselayer and a regular nano-air.

Amazing mid-layer jacket

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size

This jacket is amazing. It is a perfect combo of breathability and warmth. I use it as a mid-layer under my shell when I am snowboarding and never get too hot or too cold. I also use it touring and climbing. I am 6'0 175 and a large fits well.

Stop having to delayer on the skin track

  • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share
  • Fit: True to size

This jacket allows me to travel uphill without getting soaked through and that is exactly what I wanted it for! It adds an extra layer of wind protection and keeps me warm without letting me overheat. It also doubles as a good in-town jacket to throw on when Im running out the door.

Highly versatile

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: medium

Great for three seasons, the ventilated back helps prevent sweating while wearing a pack. Once the temperatures drop you can just throw a shell on over the top of this thing to trap some of the heat in and this thing becomes plenty warm for winter activities.

Great for touring

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

If you want a little extra warmth but still have excellent breathability.

More like a layer with style

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size

For snowy winters, this can only be used a layer. So can't flaunt the style it has. But come spring, you can use it year long. Very comfortable, superior quality, look an feel on point and fits true to size.

Perfect Midlaye

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: L

I run really warm and am always finding I am soaking through most midlayers. Then I bought this. This thing is perfect. It breathes extremely well, and still blocks headwinds. With the back materials, you can definitely feel some drafts coming in, but that is far out weighted by the breath-ability. This thing goes with me on almost every skin track.

Great Midlayer

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: Large

I just bought this layer a few weeks ago and love it. It is perfect for those cooler days with no wind. It also fits great under other mid layers such as a Proton AR, Atom LT, and Nano Air. The fit is slim. I am 5'11 and muscular and a large fits me well. I am definitely taking this piece to Acadia because it is a great jacket to walk in without overheating.

Quality of Patagonia

Light weight and breathable. Waffle Fabric is very flexible and stretchy. Would typically wear this in early spring or late fall.

    Awesome mid layer

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: large

I have used this jacket as a mid layer for skiing and as a casual around town jacket for moderate temps. As a mid layer, I used it with a merino base and a shell for resort skiing in temps down to 10F or less. It is super comfortable and breathable. The fit is a bit on the slim side, which is great for a mid layer. In terms of warmth, it is between an R1 fleece and a full Nano Air jacket, which is exactly what I wanted. It also fits great under a shell without much bulk. I really like it. Highly recommended.

    So Good!

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: Medium

I picked up this jacket to wear while ski touring and it has delivered! I've used this in a variety of temperatures (extreme cold to cooler spring like days) and all I've had to do is adjust my baselayer underneath. It expels heat while knocking the wind and it provides a light layer of insulation in the front and top of the arms. If you are looking for an amazing mid-layer active jacket, look no further!

not as warm as i was expecting

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: Medium

was expecting this to be warmer. I would compare this a warm baselayer, nothing like a light down jacket. I have a ghost whisperer, which is significantly warmer. I have only been skiing in this jacket, have not had a chance to take it mountain biking or hiking where i am generating a significant amount of heat.

Also, i am 5 10, 170lbs (broad shouldlers). i find this is tight in the chest and loose in the waist, wish it had more of a tapered fit

    ACTIVE winter mid-layer

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: Med

I use this as my active winter mid-layer for ice climbing and for ski touring. I'm wearing a MED in the picture. On approaches, I usually have this stand alone (no shell) and the DWR finish is awesome for minor snow or moisture. I wear a 100g merino base layer underneath this jacket. I also own the Nano Air Jacket, but I use the Hybrid when I'm more active. Also, this has a skinier fit than the Nano Air. The big difference is that the Hybrid is only 40grams of insulation which is perfect. Also, the thin fleece in the back (instead of insulation throughout the jacket) is wonderful when you're wearing a pack and you won't get a sweaty back as easily as you could with other mid-layers.
Also, I'm sporting the Patagonia Dual Point pants/bibs in the picture! My go to for ice! Great for spring touring as well.
Lastly, great colors for guys! (finally)

    ACTIVE winter mid-layer

    Great Active Mid-Layer

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
    • Fit: True to size

This is a great active mid-layer, though certainly on the light side in terms of insulation. Great to wear while active with good breathability but still enough insulation where it counts.

This is certainly more of a fit cut (as described) as compared to other Patagonia jackets.

    The Perfect Active Mid-Layer!!!!

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: Medium

First off, the Nano-Air series are the best mid layer jackets out there! This hybrid is obviously the lighter more breathable version of the standard Nano Air. I use it as a layer under my ski shell and it is PERFECT! Breathes well and maintains a good warmth. I would purchase these is you are looking for an ACTIVE mid layer. This is the best one out there. If you have the R1, Nano Air Light, and the Nano Air. You will be perfect for any weather thrown at you. I am 5'10" and 165 lbs. and the medium fits perfectly. It is a little tighter than the standard Nano Air, but thats what you want with a mid layer like this.

Let me know if you have questions!

    Cold Weather Running Go To

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I bought this for fall/winter trail running, and have been very happy thus far. The insulation at the chest and arms keeps me warm on my way to the trailhead/in a headwind, and the stretchy knit panels dump heat really well once I've started sweating.

    Breathable and comfy

    • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share

Bought this for my boyfriend earlier this year and he loves it. He wears it even when he doesn't need to. Bought it for him for trail running primarily and also Backcountry skiing. Nice breathable back and very soft.
