Nano Air Light Hooded Jacket

From skin tracks to climbing walls, ski resorts to hiking trails, the mountain to your couch—you'll never stop loving the versatile performance of the Patagonia Nano Air Light Hooded Jacket. The Nano Air Light offers the same stretch and comfort as the regular Nano Air, but cuts down on insulation weight and adds on breathability, making it the perfect insulating layer for high-output activities in cold weather.

Its nylon ripstop face fabric has performance-ready durability, with a dynamic stretch for unrestricted motion, and a soft feel that'll make you want to keep it on as you slump into the couch after a long day in the backcountry. FullRange insulation is surprisingly toasty for its weight and mobility, but manages to breathe and keep you comfortably warm when you work up a sweat. Stretch-woven cuffs help eliminate bunching when you layer under a shell, and push up easily when you need to reach into a crack on the climbing wall. The extended zipper allows for quick venting and an easy on-and-off, so those who normally stay away from pullovers can feel at ease.

  • An insanely versatile insulator for high-output pursuits in the cold
  • FullRange insulation offers low-bulk warmth and breathability
  • Stretchy fabric provides alpine durability and blanket-like comfort
  • Stretch-woven cuffs accommodate hassle-free layering
  • Deep front zipper allows for an easy pull-on and quick venting
  • Chest pocket keeps essential pieces of gear close at hand
  • Stretchy hood fits under or partially over a climbing helmet

Not for me...

  • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
  • Fit: Runs small
  • Size Bought: Large

I really wanted to love this jacket. This was the one I wanted. Right up until I realized it wasn't.

Pros: Light. Breathable. Comfy. Comfy under-helmet hood.
Cons: Difficult to get on and off. Standard Patagonia weird cut. Small arms. No full-zip option. No hand-warmer pockets.

I first tried on a Medium, and thought I was going to tear it apart taking it off. I went with a large, but had to return it because it was still too small...kind of. The chest fit in an athletic snug fitting kind of way. The arms on the Large were tight, which probably means not as warm as they should be. But there was PLENTY of room in the belly. You can tell from the pictures that the waist is cut wider than the chest. Weird for the layer this jacket is supposed to be.

I might be convinced to take on one of these jackets if the arms were cut larger and they made a full-zip version, but the half-zip pull-over is just not for me. Who wants to struggle to get their jacket on and off when it's hot or cold? And who wants to have to take off their helmet and glasses or goggles to do so? Not me.

Slim, Long

Wanted to like it -- great weight and mid warmth, but the fit was not right for me. Normally Patagonia Large fits me. Large size fit well but was too tight in the chest (44"). XL was just too puffy in the midsection and too long.

Excellent

Picked this up for a new mid layer for backcountry skiing here in the Wasatch, and it does not disappoint. I run insanely hot and this thing actually lasted for a bit before I had to strip to my baselayer, it really is surprisingly breathable, and I look forward to wearing it skinning on colder days. The elastic and design at the wrists is very nice, and low bulk. I do kind of wish it had more pockets, but for the style it is I appreciate the minimal design more.
Should be a good hiking/climbing layer for cool mountain temps throughout the year as well.

Great for backpacking and hiking

I bought this piece for a those chilly days in the mountain where I'm gonna overheat once I get moving. I love 1/2 zip front and the light weight insulation and the DWR treatment helps with those days with light precip.
All in all, the quality you can expect from Patagonia in a lightly insulated 1/2 zip package.

Ice Climbing King

Don't take my word for it, listen to Steve House.

You can wear this coat anytime, it’s super versatile. Slim fitting which is key for layering both over a base layer and for those really cold days under a shell. I like to pair it with the Patagonia M10 for my ultralight days in the mountains.
