Freedom To Move.

Designed to offer you stretch, warmth, and breathability, the Patagonia Women's Nano-Air Hooded Jacket allows you to cruise up the skintrack without having to remove layers. The exterior is endowed with a nylon ripstop material that gives this stretchy jacket a bit of a more solid constitution when confronted with rough granite and tree branches alike. Meanwhile, the DWR treatment helps bolster your protection from light moisture, and the nylon plain weave lining makes for easy layering, so you're not getting hung up by your own baselayers.

And saving the best for last, the FullRange insulation is what really put this jacket on every adventurer's radar. As a proper synthetic insulation, FullRange keeps you warm even when wet—however, the unique component of this insulation is its pliable disposition, which helps promote mobility that's necessary for climbing, touring, or running. Additionally, FullRange has 40-CFM air permeability rating to let excess body heat escape when your heart rate's up. To round things out, the hood features a Spandex trim for a secure fit.

  • Stay mobile with this insulated jacket
  • Shell and lining offer mechanical stretch
  • DWR treatment provides light protection from moisture
  • FullRange insulation maintains warmth even when wet
  • Articulated pattern bolsters mobility
  • Front zipper is equipped with storm flap
  • Drawcord hem seals out cold drafts

just a tad snug

  • Fit: Runs small
  • Size Bought: L

I usually wear a size large in Patagonia, but this jacket was very slim fitting in the body width and armpit. Shoulder width and arms were perfect. Love the weight- light and stretchy. Will try for an XL, hope it's not too big. For Reference, I'm 5/7", 175, with slight apple shape.

My Ideal Snowshoe Jacket

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: Medium

I can't tell you how much i love this jacket. I have an older version, from 2015, and it's starting to wear a bit, just pilling mostly and so sadly a little corner tear i'm hoping to have repaired. It's so hard to find gear that is both warm and breathable for snowshoeing, but his jacket is outstanding. Yes it is a bit bulky, so i've had trouble finding the ideal shell to put over it for windier colder days. But i stay just the right temperature on long uphill climbs, and it's just stretchy enough that i can layer some merino under it and it's comfy and the ideal combination for snowshoe days. It's also pretty sharp and I have the prettiest and sadly discontinued Tobego blue, so it's my favorite jacket to just wear around in spring and fall. I hope they start making it in better colors again. If anyone can recommend the ideal shell to put over this please do!

Perfect for layering or stand alone

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: Extra Small

I had the Patagonia Nano Puff for about 4 years (and loved it!) so I was excited to finally update to the Nano Air. It's incredibly lightweight, and has a durability feeling that I didn't always feel with the Nano Puff. I've worn it as a base layer for alpine skiing and to keep me warm on the way to work - it's versatile enough for both.

My daughter and i both purchased this jacket as mid layer to climb Mt Kilimanjaro. It was the perfect jacket. Although we are 20 pounds different we both wore a small and could both wear layers underneath. The only day we needed extra outer layer was summit day, otherwise with a 1/4 zip wool layer beneath this did the job! It is so comfortable. Just be aware that it does not pack as small as a down jacket. But we did use stuff sacks for these in our backpacks.

Size Up!

  • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share
  • Fit: Runs small

I got this as a gift for my mom and she needed to exchange for a size up. Great jacket and has become one of the more popular insulated jackets in the last year or so but the size for the womens version is a little off. Let me know if you have specific questions on the fit or features of this jacket, I myself have a couple colors in the mens version.

By far my favorite piece of gear I own

I am so impressed by how versatile this jacket is. It can be worn anywhere from a casual work hoodie to out on the ski slopes. It's really warm and so light weight. I've done everything from run marathons, ski tour, sleep in on cold camp nights to fall kayaking and it has held strong. Fit is true to size and has room for stretch if you need to fit a sweatshirt under. If I had to wear one piece of clothing for the rest of my life it would probably be this jacket

Love

I have loved this jacket to death the past few years. I am 5'10", 145 lb, long legs/arms, average torso and I got a L which lets me layer a few things underneath. It fits my long arms!!! Be careful in your color choice -- I got a cool light blue but it shows every speck of dirt, ketchup, beer, and anything else lol oh well, I only wear it adventuring anyway. I also have the hoodless nano air hybrid in a M and the sleeves are just bareeeely too short for my gangly (6' ape index) arms to fix exactly how I want in the thumb holes (the sleeve length wearing it without thumb catch is fine). I think my size falls somewhere between the M and L so it is nice to have the different jacket for layering options. I use this as more of a mid-outer layer as opposed to the hybrid which is strictly a mid layer for me.

My FAVORITE layer!

I love this jacket. I wear it as an underlayer on cold days at the resort and alone for winter runs and touring. And, I love the hood - how it fits snug around my head. Somehow this jacket keeps me warm but is totally breathable at the same time. I have never found quite the combo - perfect for our winter adventures!

The Best Jacket... For someone else.

  • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
  • Fit: Runs small

I got this jacket thinking I would love it, but I'm not a big fan of fitted jackets, and for a mid-layer I was looking for something less boxy and a little longer. I'll pass. But I'm sure someone would fall in love with it... It's the nano-air, after all!

comfy, warm & versatile

I CANNOT SAY ENOUGH GOOD THINGS ABOUT THIS JACKET. It is literally the perfect in between of puffy and fleece. Now that I have it, I wonder how I hiked without it for so long. I bought this jacket because I was in need of a good midlayer jacket, mostly for hiking and keeping my core warm while commuting to and from my lifting gym (which is freezing in winter). I have also now added it into my winter running gear and just everyday use. The multiple pockets and hood are lifesavers and it is so versatile, it can work as a midlayer but also as an outer layer & climbing coat.

It is warm enough that I only needed to pair it with a capilene long sleeve tee on a 10miler in the Catskills in 40 degree weather. Easy to take on and off and lightweight enough that I can roll up and shove into my pack. I used it recently hiking on Shawangunk Ridge Trail which had a lot of scrambling and a fall on my part and the jacket does not snag, tear or pill. The drawstring feature is great too, I used it while doing some outside sled work in windy conditions and I had no problems.

Patagonia tends to fit small, but this jacket was true to size. I bought the large because I like to layer under it and I was worried about tightness in the shoulders/lat area but it fits great and I easily could have sized down.

Thank you to gearhead Travis Bivins for the recommendation.

Super cozy and versatile.. durability tb

This jacket truly straddles the puffy/fleece line. It breathes well and is super cozy on a cold day. However, the fabric seems to soak up dirt and never quite get clean. It also has not held up well to use with a hip belot on my pack or my climbing harness.

Good outdoor jacket

I was expecting this to be warmer for winter use but I'm pretty pleased with it even though I will be using it for warmer weather outdoor purposes. Great color combination.

A great piece to keep you warm

I wore a single layer along with this jacket on a -degree day and it was enough to keep me warm throughout the day. The material is very soft and not too bulky. Can be worn along for hiking or running, or used as a mid layer for snow sports. It's an extremely versatile jacket.

Very happy with this coat

I went through a couple other jackets before getting the nano-air hoody and I am so glad I kept looking for the right one. I took this to Patagonia for a 10 day hiking trip at the beginning of February and it far exceeded my expectations. When we backpacked to the base of the Torres it was very windy and snowed, but this jacket kept me warm and dry. It is so comfortable and the fabric is really cozy so you can wear it over a short-sleeve shirt. I got a medium and it fits great with room for base and mid layers while still fitting under my shell.

I'm a tall, gangly thing, so I tend to have issues with the more petite-oriented Patagucci fits. The Nano Air is no exception. I ADORE the fabric--it's nearly weightless, instantly warm, and incredibly breathable (think touring, running, xc skiing, backpacking). I love this jacket for more horizontally-focused activities around town and in the mountains, but the fit isn't suitable for anything vertically-focused like ice climbing or alpine. The arms are a great length, but when I reach above my head to swing an ice tool etc, the hem pulls out of my harness, resulting in a cold and annoyed Zoe. The medium is semi-fitted/relaxed, and I'm swimming in the large although the length is better. If only the medium were a bit longer in the torso...

    Not my favorite

I bought this jacket but ended up returning it for an Arc'Teryx jacket. I thought this jacket fit way too short, especially for such a warm jacket. I love the look of it just didn't think that the fit was very functional.

      Most likely my favorite jacket.

The performance of this jacket is unrivaled. Patagonia really outdid themselves with the construction of this piece. Like all the reviews below me, there has rarely been a time in which that I've felt as though I needed to remove my jacket because I'm too warm. It consistently regulates my body temperature and offers a stellar warmth-to-weight ratio when I need it. The fit is pretty on point, and stays true to Patagonia's Alpine Fit, which is to say it has a slimmer fit than say the Patagonia Nano Puff or Down Jacket. Not only that, but this piece layers amazingly. This is pretty much my do-everything jacket (hiking, daily use, skiing, climbing, etc) and to say the least I'm obsessed with it. It does get a little on the stinky side, but it's synthetic and that's to be expected. I'm typically a size XS in Patagonia's products across the board, though sometimes I purchase a Small in the Alpine Fit to accommodate for more layering beneath the item in question.

I will speak to the fabric pilling as I've experienced this myself - I typically just tossed the jacket in the wash and that has absolved the pilling problem, though my husband has one as well and his has endured the pilling far more than mine has. We took a sweater stone to the material and thus far it's held up fine with no holes, though I can see it being problematic and potentially detrimental to the overall integrity of the fabric considering how thin it is.

I had been eyeing this jacket for more than a year. The first thing I was so attracted to was how soft the fabric is. Secondly, as i learned more about it, the performance is what really grabbed my attention. Going ski touring with friends I noticed how the could comfortably keep it on while I was constantly sweating in my down puffy, contemplating whether I should keep in on or take it off. When you're tired and trying to keep up with your buds, its a big deal. Since purchasing this jacket, I have gone on 2 big spring ski tours and a handful other activities. Its light and breathable. I purchased the Chartreuse, which is a loud color but also reflects the sun nicely. I was able to sleep in my sleeping bag comfortably, staying warm but not sweaty, and of course it is super soft and comfy. So glad I made this purchase. Also, shout out to Backcountry's incredible customer service. I chose the wrong shipping option and they fixed it immediately. Then I bought a couple more items and Gearhead Conner Johnson called me to thank me for my purchase and see if I had any further questions. It made me feel so special!

      How to Measure:
Measurements refer to body size, not garment dimensions. For best results, take measurements over your underwear.
      Chest:
Measure under your arms, around the fullest part of your chest.
      Waist:
Measure around your natural waistline, keeping the tape a bit loose.
      Hip:
Measure around the fullest part of your body at the top of your legs.
      Inseam:
Inseam will vary depending on style; when lengths are offered, "short" is 30, "regular" is 32 and "long" is 33. Using pants that fit well, measure the crotch seam to the bottom of the leg.
