PatagoniaPiolet Jacket - Men's

A hard shell that doesn't take it easy.

Patagonia designed the Men's Piolet Jacket for the outdoor enthusiast who does it all, and does it all in every kind of weather. From weekend backpacking trips in Yosemite, to yo-yo laps in the Utah backcountry, to forays into ice climbing in Valdez, the Piolet utilizes two-layer Gore-Tex fabric to keep you dry and warm. Not only is this hard shell water and windproof, but it is also breathable to keep you comfortable once your high altitude excursion gets you sweating.

Great for any occasion

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size

It’s casual and functional. Looks great, and moves well when active, even with a pack on.

Amazing Jacket, Small Zipper

Excellent materials inside and out. I've been using it through the shoulder season and into the winter, and it works flawlessly. The fleece lined pockets are nice touch, as is the collar being separate from the hood. The only weakness is that the main front zipper is a little small and catches on the fabric often when I zip up.

Patagonia Piolet

I bought this for my dad as a gift, he needed something to wear going hiking in Norway, and he loves it. He was looking for something that was waterproof, but a little bit thicker than his thin Arc'teryx shell. He loves it, and said it's a perfect fit. I'll post photos when I get them!

Go to camping and backpacking jacket for when it rains (or is windy, this thing keeps the wind out). Put this on when I need to go business as usual outside when it is raining (or pouring), it is awesome. The hood keeps the water out over the face well with the visor and a not too close fit, a good thing. I imagine it would be a great ski shell as well.

I have this shell and the Refugitive. I like the separation between the collar and hood on this shell for everyday wearing. I wear this shell over a nano-air jacket and it makes the perfect pairing for sub-zero weather here in Wisconsin.

    Epic piece of gear

This is far and away one of the single best pieces of gear of any variety I've ever owned. It's a year-round tool. It's great in the rain as a hard shell. With the under-arm vents, it's quite breathable when you're active. It's a very effective wind and water stopper to layer on top of a fleece or down in the winter. I've used it hiking, camping, mountain climbing, and as a regular walk-around-town jacket and it's pretty perfect in all scenarios.
