Now you see it, now you don't.

Whenever wind or rain threaten to put a damper on your outdoor adventure, make sure you have the Patagonia Men's Houdini Vest stowed away in your pack. This ultralight, ultra-packable windbreaker vest offers protection from brisk breezes and unexpected drizzles whether you're hiking, climbing, or just biking around town. It also easily stuffs into small backpack or even jacket pockets, and it will only cost you a couple extra ounces, meaning there's no reason to not have it with you at all times.

Put it in your bike pack

I got the Patagonia Houdini vest for a recent bike race - it served me very well as an extremely packable and lightweight "emergency layer". It does a great job of keeping your core warm in situations where you've worked up a sweat and are taking a quick break (top of a climb, stopping for a snack or to wait for friends). It's also a great windbreaking layer - I love that it can be completely unzipped while riding to give full venting. Since I'm using it for biking, I went with the trimming-fitting medium, although a large would fit me too.
