Patagonia Happy Hike Skort - Women's

Don't Leave Home Without It.

As essential as duct tape, the Patagonia Women's Happy Hike Skort effortlessly blends functionality with style. The Happy Hike Skort features the same dependable fabric as the Happy Hike shorts and capris, but it offers a bit more mobility and style. This means you're able to tackle those ceaselessly tough hikes without having to endure a wardrobe change before you hit the pub, cafe, or wine tasting (you know, if that kind of thing floats your boat). Meanwhile, the DWR treatment fends off light moisture, and the built-in boy short liner features a Polygiene anti-odor treatment to keep those post-play smells at bay.

Mobility slightly limited

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: Runs large
  • Size Bought: small

Overall they are well made and the drawstring is a great feature for adjust-ability. I would say in general it seems large for the sizing... I ordered a small and its big around the waist and it seems very long, I had some issues with my mobility being limited when high stepping while hiking. I think these would be perfect for a leisurely hike and then a quick transition into a town setting.

I love this skort! The side pocket makes it easy to slide your phone into and the zipper pocket in the back protects my cash/keys when I'm traveling around town.

Recently I wore it on a 8 mile hike and ended up finding a lake mid hike and jumping in! The skort dried completely in about 30 min of heading back down the trail - I was so thankful to wear it while my friends struggled with their gear. The under shorts don't ride up on my legs, but I can see why other reviewers might say that. I think it just varies body to body, so give it a try!

Thank you Lauren for the great review! Glad you got to jump in the water!

I tested this skirt out on a three day backpacking trip and I'm in love. Fits great and allows for total mobility.

Measurements

For the medium size, the front length of the skirt is 15.5" and back is 16.5". The liner inseam is 4 inches on all sizes.

Measurements

What is the length of this skort and what is the inseam length of the liner shorts?

Great question!

Shorts ride up

This skirt looks cute on but the shorts ride up after about 5 seconds. I have found this to be true with other patagonia skorts.

When I pulled on the Happy Hike Skort, all I wanted to do was bust out James Brown's "I Got You (I Feel Good)" and sing it loudly—from the trail head to the summit. This skort has a feel-good design. I'm unbelievably stoked that there's a well-fitting skort out there built for hiking, travel, and beyond.

The fabric is lightweight, stretchy (yet durable), and dries quickly, so I'm able to lunge, high step and even cartwheel should my little heart desire it. There's an internal drawcord, allowing me to really batten down the hatches. The side pocket is great for gels or granola bars, too.

My most favorite part of this skort is the built-in liner. I was not expecting the built-in shorts to be as well-fitting as they are. That being said, the built-in shorts are NOT booty shorts or a brief liner: they are a true, mid-thigh short on me, which in turn prevents thigh chafing and discomfort. For me, that's been my biggest beef with other skorts: the liners are always riding up, too tight, and way too short to actually serve a purpose. However, the Happy Hike Skort has me coming back for more.

As for the fit: I probably could have gone with an XS, but I went with a Small as I wanted to avoid the whole "pinched hips" sensation that sometimes occurs for me. The Small is definitely relaxed on me, loose in the elastic, but this allows me to comfortably wear the skort on my natural waist rather than awkwardly low-slung.
