Patagonia GI III Pant - Men's
PatagoniaGI III Pant - Men's

Climb and hike comfort.

The Patagonia Men's GI III Pant is an ideal choice for summer backpacking excursions or a day of clipping bolts at the local crag. The durable nylon fabric protects your legs on overgrown sections of trail and dries quickly after brushing up against dew-soaked foliage or taking a celebratory dive into the swimming hole after a hard-earned redpoint. You won't feel like the GI III is cramping your climbing ability either, since it has a gusseted crotch and elasticized waistband with an adjustable belt. The only person to blame for your hangdogging is you.

  • 100% nylon taslan fabric

Great pants

These are great pants for both traveling and hiking! The only thing is I thought they had the ability to cinch the ankle on the pants and mine came without a cord strung through the holes. There’s slits where a cord should be but didn’t come with any. Not too big of a deal but it would be nice to have sometimes!

    Adventure Pants!

These pants are light and breathable for summer alpine shenanigans. They also happen to be tough, quick drying and stylish. I wore them for a late summer Mount Adams ascent and epic multi-glissade descent and while my partners' trousers shredded like rice paper on the icy slushcapade, these wafer-thin beauties showed nary a scratch! I also butt-glissaded down Mount Hood on the same trip (in August!), where the squanchy ice/snow is lightly dusted with volcanic pumice, for Pete's sake! No visible signs of damage! I proudly sported them to the brewery aprés climb. Eight thumbs up!

What?! That is crazy! They really held up to all that? So awesome. Thanks for taking the time to leave this review, David.

      Not for large thighs

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times
      • Fit: Runs small
      • Size Bought: 32x34

Start from the good, pants are light, build in belt is neat, DWR finish is great.

However the cut of the pants simply doesn't allow any movement (hiking uphill is pain in the ass), the double seamlines suck big and confine spaces yet the material is not stretchable at all! If you are only buying these for casual wear, maybe it's fine. Stay away if you plan to hike with these

I'm by no means big but do have slightly above average thigh, but with these not a single chance I would hike a single mile.

      Great, light pants

      • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
      • Fit: True to size
      • Size Bought: Medium / Regular

I wore these on a week long backpacking trip. The pants are light (9 oz.), soft and comfortable. They block wind and were plenty warm for hiking in the 40's. They show no signs of wear despite some scrambling on rocks. Two issues: They are closed with a button which was really tight to get through the button hole, and the button fell off about half way through my trip. Luckily the zipper and belt kept the pants up. I replaced with a snap. Also the zip pocket on the right leg is just a little too small to comfortably fit your hand in to get small items.

My go to for casual and active wear pant

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
      • Fit: True to size

Love these pants. Bought 1 pair last year and a second subsequently. I am stuck w a suit/tie 9-5-er job so when I kick off the suit at night and weekends these are my go to. I love them for kicking around the house and out on the trail. Super comfortable. They move well, don't make that annoying crinkly sound so many other active / hiking pants can make, and love they lack the zip offs. Great w, the internal belt. I love these. I would wear all the time if I were able.

i'd wear these pants everyday if I could

I bought a pair of forge grey pants in 2015 and honestly would have worn them everyday if I could get away with it at work. I just bought my second pair in a different color because I love these pants so much. Like the description says, whether you're hiking, camping, or whatever, these pants won't disappoint. Although it's not mentioned, I wear these inside my waders on warm or hot days when I'm fly fishing. They breathe well and dry quickly if they get sweaty or wet. I considered buying the G ii pants instead, but these looked even more comfortable. I'm not sure why these aren't marketed for fly fisherman like the G ii pants. They should be.
