Galvanized Pant

Alpine climbing requires technical skill, training, and gear that protects you from the elements without limiting your movement. The Patagonia Galvanized Pants feature a three-layer H2No membrane that seals out moisture while permitting vapor to escape, keeping you comfortable by allowing air to flow. The articulated cut works with the OppoSet waist adjustment system and stretchy fabric to ensure the fit complements your movement instead of restricting it. Minimalist cuffs are adjustable so you can customize the fit around your boots to seal out invading snow, while the slim-fit legs minimize bunching and stay out of your way while you climb. Harness-friendly pockets are watertight to protect frequently accessed items and provide secure storage so you don't have to worry about losing your lip-balm three pitches up.

  • Technical shell pants for alpine adventures
  • Waterproof H2No provides breathable protection
  • Articulated pattern and stretchy fabric for free motion
  • OppoSet adjustment for a low-profile waist fit
  • Watertight pockets are harness-compatible
  • Minimalist cuffs adjust around alpine boots

Great! Except for nearly killing me.

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: Runs large
  • Size Bought: medium

Dear Patagonia (and all other outdoor clothing manufacturers)... not all women have the same length legs. I really like these pants, they fit my curvy hips and muscular thighs well. They are waterproof and breathable and move well. But, and this is a big BUT, they poof out above my mountaineering boots. I was walking on steep snow in crampons and caught the poof of the too-long pants and nearly fell to my death down the slope. PLEASE, somebody, make technical shell pants in a short length!

I wear the Outdoor Research short-length pants for this reason; good to know these are too long!

Weird fit

  • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
  • Fit: Runs large
  • Size Bought: Medium

I am in between a small and a medium in Patagonia pants. I bought these in a medium to allow room for a base layer underneath. However, the waist of these pants were huge! I thought they had sent me an XL by accident, but the tag said medium. The pant legs were a little large, but no where near as large as the waist. The length was fine though. I had bought these as an ice climbing pant, but realized they didn't have instep patches, so I ended up returning them.

These would probably be good alpine climbing or hiking pants. I would recommend sizing down.

Great Pants

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size

Love these pants, I wear them hiking and climbing or casually. If its chillier out I wear a base layer under them but they are awesome. Super cute and comfy!

Formfitting: Conforms to the body's contours.
Slim Fit: Closer-fitting. Slim-fitting technical garments may be worn over baselayers and light midlayers.
Regular Fit: Neither slim nor oversized. Regular-fitting technical garments may be worn over heavier midlayers.
Relaxed Fit: Drapes loosely on the body.
How to Measure:
Measurements refer to body size, not garment dimensions. For best results, take measurements over your underwear.
Measure under your arms, around the fullest part of your chest.
Measure around your natural waistline, keeping the tape a bit loose.
Measure around the fullest part of your body at the top of your legs.
Inseam will vary depending on style; when lengths are offered, "short" is 30, "regular" is 32 and "long" is 33. Using pants that fit well, measure the crotch seam to the bottom of the leg.
