Patagonia Re-Tool Fleece

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I absolutely ADORE my fleece. It is the first Patagonia piece I've ever owned and it's been the best. I truly enjoy everything about it. It's light weight, yet its warm. I get so many compliments on it. I definitely recommend getting this pullover. In fact, I'd even go as far as to buy another one!

Re Tool Fleece Jacket

I bought this as a gift for my boyfriends Mom, and she loves it! She lives in Buffalo, and it gets COLD there, she just wanted something soft and warm to wear all winter long. It's also the perfect layering piece to throw on over a flannel during the fall months.

A patagonia fleece is a closet staple - timeless, classic & cool.

    My new favorite fleece piece

I ordered this as a replacement to an old fleece jacket and love the color (white) and the comfort of this piece. I have taken this with me to the mountain skiing (under a shell), the beach bonfire (it always cools down more than you think it will) and camping in the red rocks. It is so versatile, I rarely leave home without it. Would strongly recommend to anyone looking to upgrade their go-to fleece.

I love it so much, I have 3!

I own the re-tool in both the jacket and the pullover. They are both fantastic.

As I said about the pullover version, I live in this fleece. It's a great all around piece that I use (and love) for just about everything. It pairs well under a microdown and ski shell for colder days on the hill. I'm constantly reaching for it when I am at home lounging, apres ski/bike, or anytime I am chilled. I might even love it just as much in the summer months for camping trips or over shorts when the sun goes down. The zip jacket has the added benefit of being even a little more versatile for running around town too.

You know how fleece tends to pill up after multiple wears and washes? This fleece doesn't do that! It looks (and feels) the pretty much the same as it did when I bought it.

The only caution I would offer is that because of the way the material is constructed, the wind will cut right through it so for cold and windy outside days it will work better as an "insulator" piece.

    very good

very soft and comfy and warm. worth the money!!

I love this fleece - it's really soft and cozy, and a great layering piece. I wear this as a jacket on non-windy days (only downside - the thick pile contributes to the wind going straight through it), and layer it under a puffy if it's really frigid outside. I wore this under my shell skiing once when I didn't have my normal midlayer with me, and it performed really well as a tech-y piece too. The iron/dark currant color has also gotten quite a few compliments. Pretty rad!

What is the center back length of a medium?

    26 inches

    Favorite jacket

Bought this jacket for my wife who is cold most of the time. She prefers this jacket to other TNF jackets she owns. It fits well and is great in low temps as long as its not windy. Great for layering as well.

    Roomy, Soft, and Warm

Purchased the Teal Green this fall. It is roomier than expected. A boxy style that makes layering easy. Sleeves are a little long but provide good coverage for cold days.

    My Re-tool Full Zip

I love the jacket. I always get compliments on the color. I got it in bayberry bordeaux. It looks very feminine against dark hair. My only problem with the jacket is that the sleeve openings are too wide. I ended up safety pinning them so that they can be more fitting around my wrists. They are advertised as being "slim fit". I honestly did not think it was all that slim fitting. I found my mountain hardware jackets to be more slim fitting. I felt as though this jacket makes me look wider than what I really am. I am 5'2 105lbs. I ordered it in a small. Maybe I should have just ordered an XS.
Overall, the jacket is a good buy. I just wish that it was advertised as being a "regular fit". I would have just purchased another jacket instead.

      pretty fabric-but bulky hems

Returned it....didn't like the bulky sleeve & bottom hems.
Lovely soft fabric--but the hems destroyed the slim fit.

        warm and soft

I tried this on in the store just for kicks, and fell in love. This jacket reminds me of the Patagonia Synchilla snap-t's that I had long time ago, except these are much softer, and much warmer. I have since bought another one so that I don't have to go without if one is in the wash. You see, I'm into the whole "new wool" thing. Pretty much all insulation pieces I own are made of merino wool. While wool regulates body temp really well, they are not too warm on the occasions when lots of warmth really matters, such as sitting in the cool office all day, and working at home at night. No matter how many layers of merino sweater/long undies (within reason of course) I wear, I'm always cold. With this jacket, I only have to wear a s/s t-shirt underneath, and set the thermostat in the house to 67, I immediately warm up. Even my hands stay warm. They are also soooo soft on the inside. I've washed each of my 2 jackets twice, and they haven't shed, and hopefully won't for a long time. As for colors, the red and the green ones are gorgeous.

Patagonia Re-Tool Full Zip Fleece Jacket

I love this jacket! It's so warm and so soft! It feels like a blanket made into a jacket. I would definitely purchase this jacket. I would order your normal size. I have a North Face Denali jacket, I would say that the two are comparable in warmth, but the Denali is not as soft. Also everyone has North Face stuff now, so go with Patagonia!

            My new favorite layer

I really didn't need a new fleece when I bought this, but the beauty of the northern light color broke me down and I brought it home. i previously had a Marmot Radiant jacket, which is very similar, but this one has a little something extra. The fibers are just a little softer, and I like the fit just a little better.

Right now, the temperature is hovering at about 30 degrees. This jacket is just about perfect on its own for a still day in that range. If there's a warm south wind, it's good for about 40 degrees. As with my Marmot jacket, I wear it when the office turns the A/C up just a little too high.

              funky color, funky fit

I really like the look and feel of this jacket, but the color looked more green than khaki online and in reality, it was pretty khaki. Also, I'm not sure who the jacket is made for, but it was tight in the shoulders and HUGE at the hips and I have a pretty hourglass-like figure with sizeable hips. Anyone with smaller proportions would be swimming in this jacket.
