Why We Like The Down Sweater Hooded Jacket

We stow Patagonia's Down Sweater Hooded Jacket inside its chest pocket on every backpacking trip, high-elevation climb, or midwinter ski trip—we just make sure to let it out regularly so its plush 800-fill down retains its soft loft as the years pass. Patagonia's Traceable Down comes from non-live-plucked and non-force-fed geese—a fact that's been third-party-verified. And to enhance its green status even further, Patagonia made the shell out of recycled polyester.

Review for the company not the jacket

Worst company I ever ordered anything from. Returned a jacket and they are refusing to refund me. Never seen customer service this bad. First and last time ever ordering from backcountry!!!

One of the best

Familiarity:
I've put it through the wringer

I've never had a Patagonia product fail to function or live up to it's expectation. The down sweater hoody does what it needs to do in every situation. I really dig the color as well. It's a wee bit heavier than other pieces that I own, but it's definitely worth it. Patagonia products are always true to size and don't feel boxy. They fit me well as long as I stay in shape, lol. Waste is a little tighter than I want it while carrying a sidearm, but easily fixed if I opt for a different holster. I expect this guy to last for an extremely long time. Grab one, you won't be disappointed.

BEST product I own, hands down

Familiarity:
I've put it through the wringer

Bought this several years ago and have worn it almost every single day since. Warm, lightweight, can ward off moisture and wind, doesn?t hold onto the stink. Stands alone but can also layer easily. Has mostly held up (thanks NoSo patches!) despite early season alder bashing, brushing up against a loose nail in the shed, and an excited puppy dog jumping up to say hi. After a few years I?m noticing some wear on the seams, but nothing some tech tape can?t handle.

Pretty Good Jacket

Excellent quality and good warmth. It doesn't fit me unfortunately so I had to return it. Good customer service as well for the return process. Would highly recommend it.

Great jacket

Familiarity:
I returned this product before using it

I loved the feel of this jacket, but I was in between sizes M-L and it is slightly fitted even though it might not be advertised so it didn't fit. I tried it on at home and it was warm, wind proof and very packable.

Quality Coat, but odd sizing

I really wanted to like this jacket, but the sizing is off for me. At first glance this appears to be of sound construction, and offers some great warmth. That said, some quirks about the jacket that lead me to return it: - In ordering a Large, it is way too snug in the arm pits and elbows where I feel like it would tear (I'm a 44R in a blazer, with muscular shoulders, arms, and chest). It was complimentary though to the waist and stomach. - In ordering an XL, I felt like I was swimming in the coat, even though I had the room I need for my arms, shoulders, and chest. Ultimately this was not a good fit for me, so I returned the coat.

WARM and Lightweight!

Familiarity:
I've put it through the wringer

I have to say this jacket is perfect for my cold morning walks with the doggo and the hood was much appreciated over not having one with a really budget Eddie Bauer without one. I wanted to see what a premium down jacket was like and this doesn?t disappoint with the warmth and lightweight of 800 fill power over the 650 power I was using. I got the Buckwheat Gold and love the color. I even get compliments on it. You can?t find this color outside a vest in my area. I got a Large since I have a 42S chest and 36 waist. There?s enough space for layering and yet not too baggy. I tried on a Mountain Hardwear Stretchdown after owning the jacket for awhile and a Large is super slim fitting, armpit area was tighter, and sleeves seemed too long. The inner pocket is great, but I still wish there was a larger all purpose ?goggle? pocket that could fit my gloves. This leads me to the only con I have with the jacket. The outer 2 hand pockets are a bit on the smaller side and items are often falling out. I?ve almost lost my gloves multiple times and the sanitizer bottle I keep in there falls out all the time. Otherwise, you can?t go wrong with the Patagonia Down sweater for warmth and lightweight!

Not perfect but worth it

Familiarity:
I've used it several times

Pros: -warm yet breathable -semi stretchy fit so it?s comfortable for easy activities (walking dog on a cold morning) and hard activities (running, on the slopes, etc) -great hood -good pockets -wrist cuffs -also great for airplane travel because of how light & packable it is while retaining warmth Cons: -zippers are hard to pull, especially the internal chest pocket -super soft material...do not take through the brush or wet areas -wish hood was removable -$$$$

Amazing Jacket! As expected!

Familiarity:
I've used it several times

Bought this for my husband for Christmas. I have the same jacket in a different color. It's a light weight, warm jacket that packs well. Best uses include: light hiking, sitting by the camp fire, chilly mornings heading into work. My husband is 6'1" 185 lbs athletic build and the large fits perfectly. He loves the hood option as well.
