    Patagonia's biggest Black Hole.

If Patagonia built a black hole bigger than the Black Hole 120L Duffel Bag, then it would probably consume the earth. This Black Hole Duffel Bag, however, has enough space for all your climbing, skiing, hiking, or traveling gear for week-long trips. Inspired by rugged-yet-light alpine packs, the Black Hole features a burly ripstop fabric protected by a TPU laminate and coated with DWR. The padded base protects your gear throughout the trip, and Patagonia padded the removable shoulder strap and removable backpack straps for comfort. Internal organizers and zippered mesh pockets organize all the small things, while the external side pocket stows the duffel for compact storage. Compression straps prevent your gear from bouncing around whether you're traveling via airplane or a four-wheeler.

    • Cavernous duffel bag ideal for travel, camping, or climbing trips
    • Durable ripstop material with TPU laminate protects from moisture
    • Padded shoulder straps and backpack straps ensure easy carrying
    • Padded base absorbs impact from toss-and-go packing methods
    • Internal and zippered mesh pockets keep toiletries organized
    • Duffel stows inside zippered side pocket when not needed
    • Internal compression straps keep luggage secure while travelling

Amazing bag...but too big for me!

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

This bag is amazing and certainly held my gear for a camping trip...but when full it’s too big for me; I though I was going to tip over! Not useful for this 5’7” 125 lbs girl for sure.

        Well worth the investment. (120L)

        • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I have used this bag for 5 years now, including an overland journey from the tip of South America back north to the states and it still looks and feels brand new. It was strapped to the roof for hundreds of miles and the bugs just washed off. I use it for on-continent trips, throwing my fully loaded backpacking bag (70L) inside before checking it onto a flight. Plenty of space left for extra shoes and a daypack. I never have to worry about busted buckles or torn straps.

The fabric is abrasion and water proof and washes quickly with water and soap. The shoulder straps on the duffel are comfortable, even though the bag has to ride a little low on your back. The internal pockets are simple and large enough to handle what I've needed to segregate.

        Well worth the investment. (120L)

        XL is spacious and durable

        • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

We use this bag for our family of four. It fits pretty much everything we need. I appreciate how light the bag is, and you can fold it flat for storage in a closet.

Where has this been all my life?

        • Familiarity: I've used it several times

If you need a gear hauler for big adventures, this is it. I looked at several large volume duffels for my trek up Kili. Needed something with large capacity, easy to carry, water resistant, lockable, and tough. I can't believe how much stuff I can cram into this thing. There's also a few internal and external zip pockets to stay a little more organized. You do have to pay a bit of a "brand" tax since it's Patagonia, but this thing is going to last forever. Can't wait for my next big trip!

        Lived up to the hype!

        • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

The reason why I purchased this bag is because of the amazing reviews I read on it and boy where they right! This bag handled going to Africa and taken up Kilimanjaro by the porters like a champ! It still looks like it's in great condition and I was able to pack A LOT in it, but keeping it still light. My favorite feature is the backpack straps.

        Use for everything.

        • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

While this is one of the larger sizes of the Black Hole, I can use it even for weekend trips out camping with friends. I can fit SO much into it (toiletries, clothes, camping gear) and still have room. Then - when I DO need to use all the space it is there. This is a Patagonia classic and there is a reason for that. It's durable, good looking, and effective. Definitely a recommend.

        Fantastic travel duffel

        • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I have used this to travel by car, plane, train and bus with great results. It stored a fully loaded 75 liter pack + extra clothes, mountaineering boots and my 32 liter day pack

        Patagonia Black Hole 120L Duffel

          Fits it all!
If you're like me and over pack, or just enjoy having everything with you. This is the perfect bag.

          Couldn't Overfill It

          • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Well after taking this to Alaska on a recent ski trip, I'm convinced that I don't own enough gear to overfill this thing. With a couple of sleeping bags (-10 and -20), skins, probes, shovels, sleeping pads, snow saws, clothes, ice axes, and more, I still had plenty of room to spare. If you often take trips where you pack a lot of gear, there is no replacement, this one is simply the best.

          Huge and durable

Everyone should a have a couple of these kicking around. Makes getting out the door quickly so much easier when I can have all my gear already organized in one of these duffels. I'm a big fan.

            Spacious and Rugged.

            • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I can pack everything I need into this bag. The fabric is very tough which to me was the main selling point. I am very happy with this.

            This bag is tough

            • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I love the fabric. It's tough and very durable. Good Construction. I like the optional backpacking straps. Don't care much for Patagonia's color scheme though.

            Not Waterproof/resistant

            • Familiarity: I've used it several times

It's a large bag that holds a lot of stuff, but that's pretty much where it stops. I purchased this bag based on waterproof/resistant claims, and since have been disappointed.

Stuffed full of camping gear, clothing for a wedding, work laptop and documents, I tossed the bag in the back of my pickup. Rain was in the forecast but I wasn't worried, as I'd purchased this bag in particular for peace of mind that my things would be kept safe and dry in the event of the unexpected. It began raining shortly into my drive, and I figured no big deal - this is why I bought the black hole bag.

After about an hour of driving in light rain, I arrived at my destination and began to unpack. Turns out, most of my things within the black hole bag were much wetter than expected. This includes my work pc, which I now have the pleasure of replacing.

Perhaps I ended up with a lemon, but either way I'm not very happy.

You're expectations for this piece of gear is misguided. This bag is not designed or engineered to withstand driving rain in the back of a truck. You need a Watershed Dry Bag for such an application. The Watershed Colorado is a comparable size.

Jordan my expectations were guided by both Patagonia's marketing and the myriad of stellar reviews on the Backcountry site, but I suppose yes, lesson learned there. Thanks for the recommendation.

            Endless space

            • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

Great hold-everything duffel. Lightweight so you can pack it full. Great long handles for carrying and detachable straps for carrying on your back. Also have the North Face 95L bag, and feel that this one is better in the way that it naturally holds its shape (has more of a set base area/shape than the NF bags). perfect for big ski expeditions. Feels like its going to be super durable.

            More Than Enough Room

            • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

This thing is huge! I have had it for almost a year now. I store all my caving/climbing/rappelling gear in it. I have thrown it around by the handles, loaded it down with 50lbs of gear and used the backpack straps to lug it several miles, its been rained on, mud all over it and hosed it off. This bag is great if you have outdoor gear to lug around or even carring it on vacation with clothes, I'd rather use it than my suitcase now.
