Why We Like The Patagonia Better Sweater Jacket
Mid-winter runs are cozier in Patagonia's Better Sweater Jacket. The contoured fit slips over our baselayer and slides easily under our shell for midlayer warmth that doesn't bulk our look, while the raglan sleeves free our shoulders for unrestricted shred sessions. With refined seams and a trim look, this winter essential moves from mountain to town with ease.

Love love love it
- Familiarity:
- I've used it several times
Bought this item a few weeks ago and have worn several times. Great color (green) and worked well in the city as well as in the mountains during a ski trip.

Patagonia Better Sweater
- Familiarity:
- I've used it several times
Bought this to layer when outside under winter coat. Good quality and keeps you warmer than other fleece jackets. This is the 3rd Patagonia Better Sweater I have bought. All 3 are Mediums and all 3 fit different. One is tight fitting.

Good sweater
- Familiarity:
- I've used it several times
I’ve owned for a year with no issues regarding the quality. I’m always cold in the winter but find that this keeps me warm. I’m 5’3” 130lb and bought a small. It fit perfectly when I got it, but I think it has shrunk a touch after several washes. I could see where it might be tight in the arms/chest for some but that’s not a problem I ever have. I would size up if you’re in doubt.

Huge Disappointment
- Familiarity:
- I've used it several times
I expected a lot more from Patagonia given the price for a FLEECE jacket. The inside isn’t soft, it runs small and there’s just no justification for the price and quality. I’m 5’7, weigh 130 pounds and the small fit snug and the arm length is short (I’m used to this given my height). Point is… I have better quality Colombia jackets and North Face jackets that I’ve gotten cheaper. Also, BackCountry doesn’t do free returns so keep that in mind.

Too light and tight
- Familiarity:
- I returned this product before using it
This jacket was a lot lighter than I expected, more like a light hoodie than fleece. I have a Synchilla in size large and love the fit but a size large in this is super tight. It shows every fold. Definitely not worth the price. I'm a size 8/medium in other brands for reference.

Nice color, but a bit too tight
I usually order a size medium, but this fleece fit too snugly around the waist. I'm returning it for a size large.

Nice lightly thick jacket
- Familiarity:
- I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
I usually wear a medium but I returned it for a large. It’s warm enough for 40 degrees+ weather and I’m able to put a layer under it. I got the sage green color and it looks just like the picture. I didn’t give it 5 stars because of the weird sizing.

Not the same quality as before!
I have this same Patagonia jacket from a few years back. The sizing is much tighter than before and the material of the fabric is much thinner. Disappointed that they change the quality!

Fabric is thinner than before
- Familiarity:
- I've put it through the wringer
I recently bought another Better Sweater (I have two other, older versions of the same) and found that the fabric has changed a lot. It is thinner and less like a sweater than before. It is also kind of shiny and plasticy looking because it is, in fact, made of recycled plastic. It just didn’t look or feel like it did before. On the positive side, the Better Sweater is a good mid weight layer for a mild day or to wear beneath a rain and/or wind proof outer layer.
