Don't get swept up.
Just because the sun is shining, that doesn't necessarily mean that you're in for a warm adventure. The Outdoor Research Whirlwind Women's Hooded Jacket stops the wind from chilling your core when you're climbing, hiking, or cycling. Made from a highly breathable and partially-recycled stretch fabric, this wind-resistant softshell delivers softness and protection against light showers. It also boasts a zippered chest pocket that secures daily accessories and doubles as a stuff sack for convenient storage. Internal thumbholes protect your hands in cool, not-quite-glove temperatures, and the carabiner loop helps prepare you for all of your alpine adventures.

Perfect Spring Layer
- Familiarity: I've used it several times
- Fit: Runs small
- Size Bought: Medium
I debated for a long time the size of this product. It's more form fitted which for my body type means it can feel like it runs small. The Medium fit great as a tailored look for everyday use. That is what I went with because I was looking for a layering piece when working in indoor air-conditioned environments as a piece to throw on when I got cold.
Ultimately if I get another one I will buy a Large to have a bit more flexibility in the sizing and myself like many fluctuate in size and the large will not feel as restricted in the shoulder area. I am also fairly broad so I frequently debate sizing on many products.
But fit aside and my personal fit preferences, this little hoody is a great addition to any wardrobe. While I did buy this as an indoor layering piece I also picked it because of it's material and I don't worry about it not being good for whatever elements might get thrown at you from rain to wind.
Lightweight and Breathable
- Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
- Fit: True to size

I love this wind jacket. It's perfect for chilly hikes or runs. It's really thin and light weight, which is great for nice weather or hot rainy days. The thumb holes are great for keeping my hands safe from the wind as well. The breast pocket can be kind of weird sometimes because usually I hike with just water and keys. The pocket is in a strange spot to hold keys, but I still love the jacket!
