Great Parka!

I have found this to be an exemplary parka, especially for its light weight, warmth, and compressibility / packability. It is soft and comfortable. There are similar parkas with a more element-resisting shell but most are less flexible and less versatile than this design. I highly recommend this parka.

Really warm

Much warmer than my last winter jacket. Made with typical OR quality and attention to detail. I'm so happy I got this parka for a New England winter.

Warm Enough for Aconcagua

I used this parka and the OR Foray rain jacket to block the wind on Aconcagua in December and never got cold.

Great jacket and sizing

The jacket is very warm and fits great. I'm 6ft tall and 200lbs and bought a size Large. It'll fit thin layers underneath it for me, which is all I'll need.

Almost too warm for anything above 15F / -10 C

I purchased this for the winter of 2023 - living in the mountains of Central Oregon and have found its basically bombproof as far as cold. 6'0" and 170 LBs and the Medium is a good fit. I could add a light layer underneath to extend the temperature range, but haven't experienced cold enough weather to need that. The high neck is great to keep out the wind, and the hood adjusts well. I haven't tried it in wet weather, but again I wouldn't wear if it was raining. It's simply too warm for that. I have two other Parka's that are very warm, including an LL Bean Maine Wardens parka. But this is what I reach for when the conditions are brutal and I know I'm going to be outside for an extended period of time.

Just what I was looking for

A really warm, bomber jacket was needed and this one fits the bill perfectly. The pockets are all warm and secure, the hood is great, all seems well made. There's more winter to come this year (we all hope) so there will be more opportunities to test it more later, but for now it looks like exactly what was needed.

Fluffy goodness

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Fluffy, warm and comfortable. Used it in the rain and it was water resistant for a couple hours. Long sleeves and a big hood, keep you covered up.

The sizing is off but amazingly warm

This is an AMAZING jacket. However i had to send back, get a refund and then get a Medium. I am 200lbs, 5'11''. I am a LARGE in absolutely everything I own. I ordered a Large and I was swimming in this. It wasn't a little big it was really big. It fit like a XL. Other then that, when I got my medium it fit like a glove in every way. I would recommend fitting this in the store before buying unless you are prepared to return if it fits improperly.

Getting Through The Long Winters

This is the best down coat I've come across so far. The sizing is a tad generous which is perfect for an alpine down coat that would be thrown on over other layers. The hood is very generous and helmet compatible and creates a pocket of warmth around your face which is really nice when you wear glasses and don't want them freezing up from your breath all the time. I've been wearing this in some of the -10C weather here in Alaska with just a t-shirt and felt great. A couple layers and I don't doubt it will get you down to -40C or below. The exterior fabric is fairly water resistant while still feeling breathable, and if feels like it could take a couple of mild scrapes and come away intact. I've been able to tuck the jacket into the bottom of a day pack with plenty of extra room for other equipment. The compression factor is likely not as nice as thinner shelled down coats but for the combination of price, protection, and warm I think this is a great deal.
