Crank up the gears.

You wonder if the tendons in your knee look similar to a mountain bike's chain shifting up gears anytime you're trail running up steep terrain. One thing's for sure, your knees would certainly be shaking in the frigid cold if you weren't sprinting, and the Outdoor Research Men's Shiftup Half-Zip Fleece Hooded Jacket is keeping your core plenty warm, so you're set for miles of shifting those tendons up, down, and all around your knee. Its Hexagonal Fleece is remarkably excellent at wicking moisture, drying quickly, and breathing for running-specific comfort.

  • Light fleece is surprisingly warm and durable for trail running
  • Hexagonal Fleece enhances breathability and moisture management
  • Fabric has enough stretch to assure full mobility
  • Half-zip keeps the balaclava-style hood snug
  • Thumbholes secure the sleeves

Pleased with Heavy Use in All Conditions

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: Medium

I still have yet to dislike any part of the jacket. It fits me really well, is warm as well as breathable, durable, and (don't judge) I've only washed it once because it still just doesn't smell. I ran in it and then wore it at early-thanksgiving dinner with my girlfriend's family that night. I've ran, rock climbed and ice climbed in it so far and have been really pleased.

Great do anything top.

Been really liking this top! It's got a nice trim fit and sleek finish, and it's super stretchy. I really like the deep, half zip for allowing maximum venting when exerting. I wear mine mostly climbing and the only thing I would change is the small zippered pocket at the hem, while it hasn't happened yet, I envision it getting caught under my harness... on the other hand, it's probably handy for stashing a key while running. I'm 5'7" and the small fits great for being active, if you want a more casual fit- try a medium.
