My favorite hat

Love all outdoor research hats but this one is my favorite. Easy to pack, great coverage of face. Perfect for hiking and laying on the beach. Love this color and style so much.

Great Gift

I purchased this as a gift for one of my field employees. She seemed to enjoy it and loved the color!

Picked up this sun hat in an effort to be more UV conscious. It definitely does the job and provides a good deal more coverage than the low-profile ballcaps I typically wear. What keeps it from being my go-to, however, is the fact it tends to lose its shape in a breeze or when snapping one or both brims into the "up" position.

Favorite sun hat

I looked everywhere for a lightweight cotton sun hat with a structured shape and a pleasant color. Last year the moab almost fit the bill but I hated the colors. I was thrilled when this hat came out in blue. It's perfect! Synthetic hats make me sweat, Tilley hats are heavy, and floppy bucket hats look weird on me, but this hat is just the perfect goldilocks sun hat. It's great at keeping the sun off my face when I hike in the summer, and it doesn't overheat me. It's more comfortable than my second choice, the Filson Packer, because it fits well without being too snug, and has a strap in case the wind whips it off. I love that it's cotton for breathability (though paddlers may prefer a more waterproof material.) The squarish shape looks better on me than the round sunbriolet style, and the brim sticks out rather than flopping like a bucket hat, but it's still flexible and flat-packable. The Dawn color is darker than it appears on this site, sort of a violet-leaning denim, and though the color I got is not as advertised, it's actually a color that I prefer.

Perfect protection and style

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I love this hat. It provides the protection I need in Arizona. It's not super hot, it's lightweight and packable. And I think it looks super cool too. Highly recommended.
