Perfect lightweight Sun hoody
Got this hoody because my guide on Mount Rainier had it. Wore this at the Hawaii volcanoes National park. It was 85 and sunny while walking across a crater in direct sunlight. This thing saved me from the Sun without making me get too hot. Also perfectly thin to layer on top of in colder uses.

The Perfect Hiking Shirt
I purchased this hooded long-sleeved shirt for wear while backpacking and hiking. It's lightweight and drys quickly. Keeps the sun and bugs off. I recommend it. It could be more durable, as the material already has several fabric "pulls" and knots.

Very Versatile
One of my favorite layers to wear all year! I wear this on Canoe trips/ Climbing days/ camping/ road trips/ hiking. - Great layer for a little extra warmth over T-shirt - Great base layer to block sun - Its super light so just throw it in your bag - I love the hood for added wind protection - breaths well and dries fast

My favorite warm weather baselayer!
I spend my time in the Rocky Mountains west of Denver doing mostly summit hikes above treeline and I absolutely love UPF protective clothing. After trying many garments like it, the echo line is definitely my go to. I have the short sleeve shirt, long sleeve shirt, and two hoodies. The hoodies are by far my favorite. The super light and breathable material gives you protection from the sun and moisture wicking with minimal added warmth. I also like the somewhat looser fit compared to other similar baselayers, making it wearable on its own for when things really heat up on trail without looking like underwear. The thumb holes are great for easy on/off of layers. OR hit the mark here again as they often do in providing the important features at a fair price.

Solid overall but too short!!
I am 6 feet tall (in other words, not that tall) with a medium build, and the medium is very short on me. This is especially problematic with a backpack on. This product is definitely designed for shorter people. Another 1-1.5 inches in length would make this a 4-5 star product that I use daily. Unfortunately as-is it's likely I will return it.

Almost Great...
The fabric of the echo hoodie is the lightest out there for sun/heat protection. And the coverage and design of the hoodie is nearly perfect. BUT, it has a major flaw: the hood is so tightly fitted that it can create a little oven around your head/neck with no air circulation/release. The hoodie would be much improved if it had a more open neck with a button closure (like some of the patagonia hoodies). This approach provides full covereage when needed but also easy venting/airflow. Also, if you want heat protection, definitely opt for the pebble color (or better, the pebble squiggle to hide the inevitable stains!). I got a blue one first because the store only had that color and the heat absorption of the blue really defeats the benefits of the light fabric.

Light, Breathable, Tough, and Comfortable
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Echo is my go-to for sun protection. From snorkeling in Hawaii to high mountain fly fishing fast packs this hoodie comes with me everywhere. The thumb loops are comfortable and strong, and the hood has great coverage and sits nicely over a hat (given I have a small head). The Echo is the complete package at a competitive price point.
