Great Jacket, but runs small
The jacket quality is right on par with other Outdoor research Jackets. Overall these are really nice jackets. My search team bought 20 of these jackets. OR was fantastic to work with. Only issue is the sizing of these. We ordered a few to try on and then made a large order. Several people on our team have now mentioned they didn't seem to fit as well as the first ones we ordered did. I went with the same size as I always do with my personal OR Gear that has an athletic fit and I would say it feels a full size smaller then my other jackets. This is most noticeable to all of us in the shoulders. Product it self is amazing as always. Fit is just off with this jacket. Unfortunately we relied on the fit check of the first jackets and had all 20 of the jackets sent to an embroider immediately after they arrived. So it's impossible to now exchange them. This is no fault of OR with their exchange process. Just an unfortunate outcome of the fit of this jacket.

Long and trim hard sheel
This is a quite long and trim hard shell jacket. Looks like very duration and I like the color very much, also like the feature of double zipper. Only con is that since it's quite long, for some people like me, it may obstruct lower body movement. But you can open lower zipper to avoid that problem. Another thing the website says it's made in Vietnam, but mine is made in China (with excellent quality of course).

Excellent Innovation of Improvements...
True fit for size Medium. I am 5'10 166lbs 32" waist, and a chest size of 41"... My last Pro Gortex coat from OR was the Mentor. And it was in a class of its own for exceptional quality! The Archangel coat is better in so many ways. It actually covers your rear to minimize exposure to one's rear-end. The fit in the chest is roomy enough to comfortably wear a chest harness with carabiner with a mid layer underneath. You can actually rotate both arms 360 degrees at the same time and the body of the coat stays in place (this is a first for Pro Gortex, Right.)!!! The hood is so much more roomier then most Pro coats to actually be able to turn your head with out the hood popping off. And with the multiple hood adjustments you can bring it down nice and snug to your head so you can still see very well (Thank you for thinking this one through OR!)!!! This is a great 4 season Pro Gortex coat and I am looking forward to many years of adventures with this newest creation of excellence from Outdoor Research... Cheers...

Bomber
This jacket is idea for climbing. Longer arms, stretch panels, slim fit in combination with tough fabric. I have also used it skiing a number of times this season and it worked perfectly.

Goodbye Arc'teryx, Hello OR
First, I LOVE this jacket. I wear it for ice climbing, mountaineering and alpine trad climbing. The stretch around the shoulders is better than my previous Arc'teryx and doesn't hold me back when reaching for that next ice tool placement. The picture is at a 12k foot frozen lake in April with 60 mph winds and 4 feet of snow. I was the first visitor of the season. Thanks for making the gear to get me there OR.

Weird sizing
First, what I like about the jacket - it's a great material and I really like the mustard yellow color. The pockets are in a good position for accessing while wearing a harness. Seems like it would have been a great jacket if only the fit was better but OR really missed the mark here. I'm 6' and 175 lbs with an athletic build and generally wear a medium jacket in most OR tops. After reading some reviews about this jacket being a bit snug, I sized up and ordered the large. It fit pretty well around my torso with some room to layer, but the arms and overall length of the jacket were way too long. The hood is also a weird size - barely big enough to fit a ski helmet under (as long as I don't turn my head) but too large to wear without a helmet. I then ordered the medium to see if it was a better fit. The length of the jacket and arms was great but it was way too tight under the arms and around the chest.

Great Material & Features, So-So Fit
Material Performance very Good; GoreTex Pro does it's job with rain, snow, and wind. Good Design features with exception; chest and supplemental pockets good idea, pit-zips essential, hem and hood pulls effective. Exception; I feel the hood-hook concept for non helmet use is a great feature, although difficult to use when the weather is full on and hands are gloved. Further, I think a more permanent lock feature ( similar to the key ring hook in left pocket) would be better. Current hook separates when the single hood pull is used...frustrating when you cannot synch down hood without helmet. I will add permanent feature. The fit is generally good. I am a cross between Med and Large. I purchased both and returned the medium(although have not received credit yet ). Medium too tight in chest and hips. I do appreciate the trim fit by design, but would have been too constrained when planting an axe overhead regardless of stretch capability of the GoreTex. Bottom line- happy with material performance and shell features. If you have an athletic build size up.

High Quality But One Serious Con...
The material of this jacket is extremely durable, it comes at a cost in the weight department but if you need bomb-proof, storm-proof protection this is a great shell. I would not recommend if you're a heavy sweater and/or run hot, if you're doing some "heavy lifting" in the backcountry you'll be taking this off immediately. Really all you would need for most days out is a base layer and this jacket - it provides warmth, protection, and breathes well (for this category of jacket). And finally, the price. I would want more out of a jacket that's costing me as much as this one does, don't get me wrong, it's a very nice jacket, but I'm not giving it 5-stars as I feel for what you spend it's not going to be the ferrari of jackets you've always wanted for the price tag. Then again, you're paying for the lifetime warranty so that should factor in here. Pros: - Very durable - Very water repellent - Very capable in gnarly weather Cons: - Heavy - Not super breathable (kind of par for the "hard shell" category's course) - EXPENSIVE
