Big mountain warmth and performance.

You don't have to be skiing the Swiss Alps to appreciate good craftsmanship, but it might help. Take the Ortovox Men's Swisswool Leone 2L Jacket on your next backcountry adventure and enjoy waterproof protection and performance breathability while you explore Europe's glacially sculpted mountains. Extremely lightweight, this two-layer hardshell is designed for long tours and alpine adventures, with three-layer inserts at the hood, shoulder, and hips for extra durability. Thanks to the high level waterproof and breathable nature of these membranes, you'll stay dry no matter what storm mother nature whips up.

Windproof in addition to waterproof, and lined with high quality wool, you need not worry that high mountain winds or alpine weather will get you down. Air-trapping fibers keep you body heat close at hand, while encouraging perspiration to move away from your body for dry performance. The zippered pockets are placed conveniently out of the way of your pack or harness, making this shell a handy companion while ski mountaineering. Four-way stretch guarantees unhindered movements from technical ascent to fresh tracks down.

  • Technical hardshell for alpine adventures and big mountain tours
  • Combination 2- and 3-layer membranes are waterproof and breathable
  • Swiss virgin wool offers high quality warmth and wicking performance
  • Four-way stretch ensures unhindered mobility on tricky ascents
  • Chest pockets are compatible with pack or climbing harness
  • Lightweight, packs down into hood for traveling convenience
  • Self-adjusting hood and width adjustable hem offer a perfect fit

Breathable Insulated Shell

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size

Used the Leone jacket on a 4 day Dolomites climbing trip, staying above 7000 feet for the duration. This Swisswool shell is very light. Comparable to arcteryx atom LT. Breathability comparable to arcteryx proton LT. The Leone however is a shell (you can wear it as a mid layer also) and gave me all the wind (up to 50 mile gust) and snow and light rain protection I needed. Surprisingly warm for such a light jacket, long sleeve base layer was enough during climbs. Pockets work great with a backpack and harness. Love the soft merino wool at the chin. Helmet fits climbing helmet. Soft touch outer shell material and very quiet. Not a burly outer shell material, but easily handled our trip. 4 way stretch makes this jacket my go to piece for cold fast climbs and ski tours! Slim fit. I’m 5.11 wear Medium.
