When you and your kayaking pal are heading to the same place anyway, it's seems to us that you might as well load up in the Malibu Two XL Tandem Kayak and work together to get there. Ocean Kayak can't promise that you'll go faster, or that you'll even agree on what your destination is, but it can promise that the Malibu's a stable, comfortable boat that's capable of holding two adults and one youngster (or a pet, if you'd rather leave Jimmy Jr. at home to fend for himself).
The Comfort Zone seats are movable, so you can set one up in the center if you're paddling all by your lonesome, and there are overlapping foot wells to always give you something to push against, no matter where you're sitting. Bring a fishing pole and stash your paddle in the side paddle keepers, or stash some beach towels under the bungees and head out to spend the day at the secret beach. At 61 pounds, the Malibu isn't as light as a feather, but it makes up for it by being exceptionally durable, so rest assured knowing it'll be around for a long time.

LONG Unit SHORT Storage
Great on the water but short on storage. For the price, all three hatches shouldn't be optional. Kayaks for less money come with these features included. Even the Venus 11 came with a 6" Cam Latch hatch and a Quick Seal Hatch. I'm not looking forward to cutting up the deck and adding Gaspachi hatches for more $$. Disappointed for this reason. Otherwise, I feel this is a very well made unit.

Would be 5 stars if I could stay dry!
Bought this kayak to replace an older Pelican sit-on-top tandem which was uncomfortable for myself, my husband and our 50 lb dog. The Malibu Two is much more comfortable for all of us giving my husband at the back enough leg room, lots of room for our dog in the middle and a comfortable configuration for my legs in front. It tracks better than the Pelican and is nice and stable even when our dog get wiggly. It is still very heavy to manage out of the water (lighter than the Pelican) but the handles on the side make it a lot easier and together we can load it onto the top of our camper. My only beef with the kayak (and the reason I can't give it 5 stars) is that I can't keep my "behind" dry! The self-bailing holes on either side of the front seat act as blow holes that shoot up water into the front seating area in small waves or chop (like a boat wake) so on every paddle, I am pretty much guaranteed to end up with wet pants (and sitting in a puddle). Also, the kayak also doesn't take chop or waves over the bow well and the person in the front is guaranteed to get quite wet if you have to paddle straight into them as we did recently when the wind came up on our return to our parking spot (I was soaked). So it is a great kayak for warmer weather when you don't mind getting wet, but I would not use it for paddling in cold lakes in cold weather. This may be somewhat the downside of the sit on top kayaks, but it seems the seating could be designed a bit more thoughtfully to mitigate the problem.

Sound,smooth and good speed
I bought this for my husband for Father's Day after having used a friends' a month before. It has been great, we paddle in the high peak area of the Adirondacks. It's a little heavy (68#) but manageable. Highly recommended

Awesome
First day on the water. Very pleased with the kayak. Delivered without any issues, kayak was well protected during shipment and no scratches. Kayak held 2 adult males with no problem. Very sturdy and well constructed. Overall very satisfied.

Utilitarian beast
I bought this kayak used from a rental facility, along with an extra seat; they cut out the center oval for extra storage. We paddled in the Malibu on inland lakes with two adults and a kid for years, until our son was 8yo. Aside from scratches all along the bottom from being dragged to/from the car/water, none of which put the kayak at any risk, and some sun fading, it's good as new. I think a tank could run over it and leave only scratches. At 68 lbs it's unwieldy out of the water, even for two strong adults, but it beats lugging around a tandem + a single just to take a small family on the water for an afternoon. Easy to hop in and out of for quick swims, and lots of places to clip carabiners for whatever random stuff you'd like to take with you. Can't recommend it highly enough!

Ample room for 2 adults
The sit on top kayak is easy to get in and out of. The seats are comfortable and there’s plenty of room for 2 bags/coolers. It’s a good looking kayak too. The only down side is that it’s heavy. Requires 2 strong adults to load/unload off roof rack.

Great family kayak!
This kayak works great for as family kayak. The stability is awesome with the young kids and dog. Very easy to get in and out of. Probably not the best for long distance paddles, but we've taken it several mile paddles up and down the rivers and lakes of WI.
