The Now's Hanger 2.0 base provides a wider heelcup for greater comfort with varying boot shapes and sizes, while its 30% fiberglass blend delivers the responsiveness for straight-lining steeps, laying trenches on groomers, and sending diving board cliffs in the backcountry. And adding even more strength and durability to it, the Drive's mounting post is made of 30% carbon fiber for the utmost in power and energy transfer. Innovative Skate Tech connects the Hanger 2.0 base to a hinged Kingpin at the center of the binding, which acts like a fulcrum, allowing you to rock the binding back and forth with a subtle amount of play, just like when turning on a skateboard truck. Instead of transferring all your energy into turning on a rigid baseplate, the slight rocking motion seamlessly transmits rider inputs into precise turns with powerful edge hold. Initial reaction - Solid. Comfortable.

I have the stiff rated pads on so I'm probably not feeling the benefit of skate tech. I thought the bindings shipped with the various densities but that is not the case so that's why it's a 4 star. I like the construction, love that they have a forward lean. They do lack the ability to rotate the high back if you wanted to run them parallel to the edge. Although, I have not felt the need to do that with these. The heel cup is not as form fitting because they're made to accommodate a wider range of boots but I haven't felt movement after riding them for an afternoon. I'm looking to try the medium density pads next to get more of that surfy feel.

Super impressed with the NOW Drive thus far. I've spent most of my time riding medium/medium stiff bindings, but having a binding as stiff as this is a real gamechanger.
Superior response in all conditions make them a joy to ride. I love the height of the highback, as they really allow you to make the binding respond in a fraction of a second. On the same note of stiffness, I don't find them to be too stiff when paired with a boot with a beefy upper. Fatigue is not a concern with the Drive's, but was a consideration when I made the move to a much stiffer binding.
Skate Tech is rad, but I don't think it's noticeable or dramatically different enough to dislike. It adds just enough feel and dampening to make it a bonus feature of the NOW binders. If you cruise pavement on a skate or longboard in the summer, you might appreciate the Skate Tech.
Straps, baseplate and higbacks all feel bomber, yet lightweight. Easy adjustment with a Phillip's head screw on the straps.
A worthy investment for any rider looking for some more response in a binding built to last!

Wow, built tough. The NOW Binding company has redesigned how bindings attached and perform on snowboards by using their exclusive Skate-Tech. This system mimics a skateboard truck using a middle kingpin as a pivot point, creating a unique ride.
The Drive binding takes all of the premium features from NOW bindings to create their a big mountain, freeride binding. This binding stiffness is rated as an 8 out of 10, meaning this binding is more stiff to be more reliable in extreme condition.
Skate-Tech - I love how these bindings work. The pivot is such a sweet design and really makes for a revolution of snowboarding.
Underfoot padding - The foam underfoot on the drives is nice a kushy. I didn’t realize how nice of a feature this is until I took a run on my old Union DLX bindings. The foam creates a dampener when you’re cutting across chop but also allow you to comfortably stomp landing on the flats.
Tool-less adjustment - No more digging for that screwdriver in your jacket.
Stiff, like really stiff - Purchasing these binding I really underestimated how aggressive these highbacks are. I mean if you’re the spine master himself and you do need a binding that is stiff, but wow. My calves will get sore by the end of the day because of how stiff and rigid these highbacks are. Coming from my old Unions with a more relaxed flex rating, I find myself wanting a less aggressive highback for a more surf style ride.
Ratchets work almost all the time - From time to time I notice the ratchets will loosen up, this could be due to the cold temps I was riding in (10-20 degrees Fahrenheit).
Bottom line: Great binding with innovative technology, creating a unique ride. Stiff and responsive, these bindings are great for maintaining control in extremes and taking your riding to the next level.
