Just what I've been looking for!

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: Large

Finally found a great pair of waterproof, comfortable, quiet pants to use while hiking and to wear at cold weather football games!

I am back from my first hike with the pants and LOVE them! They are made extremely well, fit perfectly, especially over jeans, are quiet when hiking (had to make fun of a friend during the hike because of the noise his pants made), warm, and waterproof, although I have yet to be in a drenching rain, only a misty light rain. No doubt I will have complete confidence in these pants when I decide to venture out in torrential downpours, which I am sure is not too far off in the distant future.

Fit was great, as I decided to put them over jeans, but also tried them on without pants and they were very comfortable. I am 5'10 157 lbs 32" waist and purchased the large. The waist is perfect, especially with the Velcro adjusters to accommodate additional layers if needed. The length was at the very bottom of my boot, but again was easily adjustable by Velcro and allowed the pant to sit right over or just above my boots. It also has a boot catch on the inside of the pant leg to allow the catching of a boot which is also very handy.

Overall, I am extremely please with my purchase! I will definitely be looking at this brand for future purchases of outdoor gear.

Weird sizing, as usual

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
  • Fit: Runs small

I've tried to buy Norr?na pants before and had to return them every time because of fit. My jeans are either 33 or 34 in the waist depending on the brand and always 30 in length. That's on the short side when it comes to length in technical outdoor pants like this.

The size chart is listed as the waist being 34.6 - 36.6in for Medium, which is what I ordered. Even with waist Velcro snaps all the way out this feels a little snug. So with 33/34 jeans the supposedly 36.6 waist on these pants is borderline tight for me. Sure these pants sit a little higher than jeans but still.

I would've preferred the legs to be every so slightly shorter but this will do.

Craftsmanship seems top notch, as expected. I agree with Bill's review below on the general fit of these pants. They are closer to athletic than regular. The thighs are quite narrow, while the legs quite wide. This is useful for having them outside of boots and then tightening the Velcro at the leg openings. Once that's done the legs don't feel so wide.

If you fit within their size chart I don't think you can go wrong with these pants.

While I've only used them once so far, I came out very impressed. The mesh lining does add weight and bulk, but it makes it very comfortable to wear the pants with only underwear. I remained completely dry. The pants were very comfortable to wear. I was hiking in steep uphill/downhill terrain. The little hooks at the bottom of the legs never let go from the laces of my boots giving a secure fit.

This is a 5 star product if the sizes fit you.

Excellent quality, minimal caveats

  • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
  • Fit: Runs small

Outstanding initial quality. Sturdy buttons, quality zippers and pulls, reinforced belt loops. Outer material is tougher than comparable Gortex Paclite pants. Velcro waist cinch mechanism adjusts fit very comfortably and quickly. Right thigh pocket has elastic inside pouched, sized well for cell phone or small camera. Legs and seat are lined with mesh throughout; this adds weight, but makes it more warm and quite comfortable on bare skin, feeling like they are best worn alone, not as pull-over rain pants. Cut is labeled regular, but feels more athletic; I wouldn't count on fitting multiple layers underneath. Stitching on pocket seams is sturdy, but penetrates outer layer at mid-thigh with small roll in the seam; would need to test it in hard rain to know if taped seam is effective in this vital area.
