The jacket you'll want when you visit nuketown.
Venturing into the backcountry during winter demands a jacket that will offer dependable protection from the elements, while delivering enough breathability to keep dry on the inside. The Norrona Women's Lyngen Driflex3 Jacket does all of this and more with a three-layer shell, fully taped seams, and multiple vents to keep things nice and cool when you're on the move.
Breaking trail on a storm day can be tricky—it requires twice the effort, meaning more sweat, and it's usually nuking, so unless you want to be drenched during the descent, you'd better wear your shell. On days like these, all you'll have to do is open up the huge underarm vents and large chest vent to get cool air circulating through, so you don't get a little sweat lodge going on beneath the jacket. Meanwhile, the completely waterproof Driflex3 shell will prevent all that snow piling up on your shoulders and hood from turning you into a big cold and wet snowsicle. When you do reach the top of your run, zip up the vents, pull the wrist gaiters down, button up the detachable powder skirt, and pull the helmet compatible hood over your dome for complete protection from the chest-deep powder run you're about to feast on.

I was psyched for this jacket for touring and the like, but it showed up without any pockets! Only a breast pocket that would maybe hold my phone. But I don't like putting my phone there, so this was really just an unfortunate purchase. Pit zips went down through the bottom where pockets should be, so it seems rather counterintuitive. Beautiful soft, however seemingly wicking fabric and a slim, flattering fi though.. Would've needed a size up if I wanted to keep and layer with it in the winter, though. Definitely a European slim fit.
Zip pocket, not a patch-pocket
The women's has a zip pocket, not a patch-pocket.

Say hello to your new best friend. This is a lightweight, weatherproof jacket for your high aerobic pursuits. It will pack easy when things get heated, and protect you well when the clouds roll in, or on your descent.
The cut isn't oversized, but I did find the medium to be a bit roomy. However, it's perfect for a big warm mid-layer, which would be necessary at the summit. So, I'd say go true to size on this. I'm 5.8, 135 and wearing a medium in the photos.
