Great Jacket - As advertised
- Familiarity:
- I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
This is a great jacket. Period. I went XXL here based on the size chart which was spot on. The olive color is fantastic. I concur with another reviewer - The jacket is a tank! Yes, I just got it, but build quality is evident. Get it. If you want a flexible gore-tex insulated. Look no further. Note, I stated "runs true to size" based on the size chart, but smaller than other competitors where I would typically be an XL.

Nice Warm Jacket
- Familiarity:
- I've used it several times
Pretty warm when you layer with it, I dont use it for skiing but primarily for work outside or out and about in Minnesota winters. It does run a tighter fit

Not good
- Familiarity:
- I've used it several times
I bought this a few years ago. Returned it because is tore easily. Got replacement and it too tore. Like Norrona but this is subpar. Their GoreTex Pro shells are burly - i have the pants which are awesome and bullet proof. This was awful in terms of durability. Love the look, warmth was good. If they made this in a 3 layer I’d be interested again. Backcountry was good about the returns, at least back then.

Excellent insulated jacket
- Familiarity:
- I've used it several times
I ordered a number of other Gore-tex with synthetic insulation jackets, and this was by far the best. It was the best in terms of quality, features, and fit. Usually XL works for me (I prefer a bit baggier fit) but in this case the XXL was the fit. Other jackets I tried were from Armada, Patagonia, and Burton AK. It's held up for the 5 days I've skied with it, and a week of walking around, tubing, hanging it over the bar stool, etc. Lots of pockets, functional ventilation, strong zippers... really happy with it overall. Used it in temps from 20s- low 40's with only a thin wool shirt under and it was toasty. Way easier than layering. Comment on the hood- when it's laying flat, if you flip the brim under it offers more mobility. I didn't find it to be an issue. Also surprised it tore on someone else after a day, it's a really sturdy jacket.

Cheap, doesn?t last very long
- Familiarity:
- I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
I bought this jacket two weeks ago, skied with it one time and the sleeve ripped during normal skiing. Tried to get it fixed at the store in NYC and was told that it would take over a month to send it in and get it repaired and the warranty doesn?t cover tears. Cheap material that doesn?t seem to hold up very well.

Great ski jacket
- Familiarity:
- I've used it several times
I bought this to replace an older Marmot soft-shell that didn't provide much protection from the wind on the slopes. I tried several other jackets from Columbia and OR but struggled on sizing as their larges were to big and the mediums were too small. This large Norrona is perfect for my 5'11 185lb frame. The pockets are ample and in all of the right places. The hood can be a little intrusive when not in use but really not an issue considering all of the other benefits. Highly recommend.

Another amazing piece from Norrona
- Familiarity:

I have been looking for a jacket to replace my old Marmot Trient. Wanted one that was waterproof, windproof, with good flexible GoreTex Shell. Keys features that I was looking for beside those were attached hood, chest and interior pockets with 100g insulation. This has it all plus wrist gaiters so, the wind and snow don't creep into the sleeve. The wind can't cut through this baby. The shell is very durable, waterproof, and will stand up to most encounters. Love the 2 chest pockets with a google wipe :). Hood is helmet compatable and can be used w/o one as well to cover/shield you from the elements. The fit is typical of Norrona - broard through the shoulders, long arms then tapers down in the waist/hip area. I'm 5'5 115lbs with broad shoulders, 30DD chest and slim through hips/butt. I got a men's small which works great. The hips/butt area provide a nice snug fit to keep the wind/snow out when not using the skirt, but are not too restrictive. For reference, I have an Arcteryx Sidewinder in men's small which is considerably roomier/relax fit compared to the Lofoton which is more athletic fit. I use the Sidewinder for skiing in the really nasty weather because its shell is more durable, but it tenders to be stiff. The Lofoten is not as stiff and tends to move a little better so, have been wearing it skiing in the mid to high 30s with 200 base layer. Also, use it for around town when in the 30s or below (with Arcteryx Cerium Lt vest and base layer underneath. Loving this jacket the more I wear it.
