Norrøna Finnskogen Hybrid Pant - Men's

Rugged adventures call for burly britches.

You probably don't want to wear the Norrona Men's Finnskogen Hybrid Pants to the next up-scale dinner party you attend, but you will want to wear them the next time you have a hot date with the wilderness. They're made with a breathable and durable brushed polyester with a reinforced seat and knees, so you can travel cross country in them, without having to worry about ripping them the first time you walk through understory and subalpine vegetation. Their technical design puts two large outer thigh vents along both legs, two zippered cargo pockets, and hook and loop tabs at the waist for easy adjustments to the fit. Lock the cuffs down tight to keep your socks dry when you're walking through the wet grass first thing in the morning, and stuff you hands in the two handwarmer pockets to protect you paws from the morning's cold temps.

Versatile Pants

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Construction - appear very-well built. Seem very durable.
Sizing - European sizes tend to run slightly large. A EU 46 is listed as a 30-31" American size. Average the two (30.5") and that is a more accurate size. A 30" would be a better fit.
Comfort - hardly notice them as they do not restrict movement.
Weight - they are lighter weight and work well in summer but I plan to use them this winter as well with some polypro underneath as they are so comfortable not restrictive.
Color - I bought the green as they appear to be a dull green on the website. They are a brighter green then I expected.
Pockets - front hand pockets not deep enough; they are zippered though.

Awesome as usual and expected

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size

Another pair of Norrona's and another happy purchase. These pants used for summer back country hikes here in CO. Vents kept me cool, dried quickly, and not really that hot. Need long pants here due to mosquitoes. I have 4-5 pairs of pants from Norrona dating back to my first pair I bought in Oslo 5-6 years ago. I rip through the back country in these pants and there is no sign of wear and tear. I sit on them, sleep on them, cook on them, swim in them, rarely wash them and they look brand new.

The sizing chart is tough to fit yourself but once you find your size, they are usually true. Lets face it, the vikings are just more fit than us and they size everything for the true true athletic figure.

Sizing off

  • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
  • Fit: Runs small
  • Size Bought: XL

I wear a 40 inch waist. the size chart states that XL should fit 40-42.5 inch waist. The pant won't fit over my thighs.

Well thought out pants

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: Medium

Just wanted to add some features not specified in the other review and in the product description.
The reinforced seat and knees also contain a waterproof membrane, so you can go ahead and sit on that mossy rock.
The right thigh pocket contains a phone sleeve sized for an iphone5 or similar.
From my outings so far, these things are tough, light, quiet, and provide great range of motion. I am always wary as a lanky dude buying medium pants as some brands run rather short, but these had a perfect length for me.

I'm 6'1" 190 lbs with a 34" waist, would you recommend a medium or a large?

Unanswered Question

I am 6'5, 200lbs… am i reading the size chart correctly that a XL is roughly 36x34? I am basing this off the website info:

I live in these pants. Wear them for anything forest related; hiking, camping, hunting, snow shoeing, etc...
Made with a durable, brushed material, they are perfect silent hunt/stalk pants. And the thigh vents help make these pants extremely versatile during any season and/or activities.
After 3 years use and miles of true bushwhacking I am happy to report not a single tear.
The Finnskogen hunting concept was previously only available through Norrona's website. How about Dovre next? Thank you Backcountry!

I would like to get these for my 19yo, but due to his 28" waist, I would need to get him an XS in these. He is 5'11" & usually wears a 34" inseam in jeans ... Will these be way too short for him?

I own a pair of these and love them. But I would recommend you get your son a medium in Norrona.

They have an adjustable waist and cuff with Velcro tabs.

I would compare with the Svalbard heavy duty as it is a more general purpose pant.
