For a Perfect Fit

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
  • Fit: Runs large
  • Size Bought: Medium

Definitely a solid jacket, it will take you to far places. Although this jacket is meant for a specific body type, the sleeves were a bit long and the torso was baggy. Though cinched down I was able to get a solid fit. I applaud two things one this jacket: the side pockets are at a slant giving an easier zip and the other is there is a piece of velcro on the cuff for placement of the velcro adjustment strap. That was really cool to see one a jacket!

Good Jacket

So I bought this jacket this summer with the intention to ski with it. So, I will probably write a more detailed review after I ski in it. You could definitely wear this as a multi season for rain/snow Nice lightweight shell jacket. The lightweight material makes me a little nervous about brushing it against a tree or branch while skiing . Fit is an athletic fit, as described. It fits great with a fleece or down sweater underneath it. Not too worried about the shortness of the jacket because I wear bib pants when I ski. Can’t wait to try it out this winter.

Nice Jacket

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: Medium

100% windproof and waterproof, this jacket is light but sturdy. The harness friendly side pockets are spacy. I bought a medium and it fits perfectly with my base layer and a thick fleece jacket. Norrona in US is always on sale. It definitely beats an Arcteryx hardshell jacket with similar price.

Nice Jacket

Looking for a men's parka, gore tex (or reasonable facsimile) w/ zippered pockets, liner, and storable or detachable hood. Most I see the hood is non-detachable. Suggestions?

Awesome Lightweight Jacket

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: XL

I've been skiing in this jacket for 2 seasons now and absolutely love it. I use this jacket on the warmer but stormy days where not alot of insulation is needed. It fits really well, I ordered an XL and I'm 6'3" 22lbs. It does fit slightly short but i also wear bibs so the short fit doesn't bother me much. I think due to the color when the jacket gets wet it looks like it gets soaked through but it indeed does not and I have always stayed 100% completely dry. It can get a little chilly at times depending what layers you're wearing underneath. I also use this jacket as a rain jacket especially when out walking my dog. The pit zips are nice and big allowing for heavy airflow when it's warmer out on the slopes or for touring. The two chest pockets provide more than adequate storage and the hood is larger to fit over a helmet.

Awesome Lightweight Jacket

Great jacket, but SUPER short!

  • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
  • Fit: Runs small
  • Size Bought: XL

I bought this jacket for my husband for Christmas this year and when he tried it on, we both just stared at it, wondering why it would be made SO short in the front! He’d have a pretty cold belly if he tried to wear this on the mountain! Also, the color represented online is a brighter blue, when in reality, the jacket is super dark blue. The construction is good, sleeves are long, but not wearable if you’re tall (he’s 6’4”).

Reliable GoreTex. Cool Look. Bad Sizing.

  • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
  • Fit: Runs small
  • Size Bought: Large

Got the jacket in the mail and found out the other reviews about sizing are dead on. Sleeves are waaaayyyy too long. On the order of four or five inches too long. Body of the jacket is much smaller than I expected for a large. No way to fit much more than a base and maybe ultralight mid. Down will not fit under it...no way. Sizing should def be noted as slim or athletic.

lightweight and bomber

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

Sized back down to a medium in this model. Have owned this model before in a size large. Sleeves slide right over my Flylow gloves and the cuffs curved cut makes them stay in place with added protection. Jacket is a very light shell that gives me ample room for my Dynafit down or my synthetic mid layer jacket. Have owned a bunch of Gore jackets and the Falketind is just a go to piece. The freedom of movement you get because of its supple lightweight make it an easy choice. Has a drop tail so the jacket looks pretty good imo unless you have a super long torso.

Absolutely best shell I've ever owned!

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: XL

I just recently purchased his jacket for ski touring and I love it. I have broad shoulders so I got the XL and it fits my chest perfectly and somewhat hides the "beacon bump." Since I ordered the XL the sleeve length are somewhat longer but it's nothing bad. Zippers are high quality and water resistant and has double zippers on the pit zips making it super easy to unzip with gloves on for the way up. This jacket also packs down very tightly, I'm able to roll it up and fit it in my helmet with my goggles in there as well saving a ton of room for other stuff in my pack. The length on the torso is a little short but to me it's no big deal. All in all, I absolutely love this jacket.

Absolutely best shell I've ever owned!

Best do-it-all Waterproof Shell Jacket

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: Large

I've had the Blue Norrona Falketind Gore-Tex jacket for 3 years now and it has proven to be my most frequently used waterproof-breathable jacket. It is lightweight, durable, comfortable and ready for whatever - the perfect do-it-all shell. I've worn it skiing, hiking, mountain biking and around town - it is slightly short to use as your dedicated ski jacket unless you plan on wearing a harness frequently, as the hem has a slight drop-tail design. Fit is true to size - I am 6'2" 185 and large fits perfectly.

Great Jacket

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size

I purchased the Falketind jacket earlier this year as a climbing shell and everyday wearer and it really is a sharp jacket. One thing to be aware of that is stated in the other review as well is that the sleeves really are quite long, and the jacket itself is a bit short. These are great features when I'm out climbing but it can be a bit obnoxious when I'm out on the street to have sleeves almost 5 inches longer than my arm. The other thing that I've noticed is that the velcro on the wrists isn't very strong, and has started to pull off of the jacket a bit after only a few months of use. If it weren't for that this would be a five star jacket.

Fast and light for all seasons

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size

As Winter transitions into Spring I have been getting way gear hungry, and recently decided that a solid lightweight hardshell would be the perfect solution. I love jackets like these because they feel like a total luxury item when you first buy them, but based on amount of use, they are the best value/dollar of any gear you can own (if you don't have one, get one!). My next big purchase was going to be an Arcteryx Alpha FL, but after testing the Norrona Falketind Gore-Tex Jacket I have some serious soul searching to do (it was awesome!).

The Norrona Falketind is one of the best lightweight G-Tex shells I have encountered. Excellent durability and weather proofing, lots of adjustability, and all of the usual bells and whistles that you expect from an all season shell jacket (helmet compatibility, long underarm zips, asymmetrical cuffs with velcro closures).

This jacket was a perfect fit for me in the Large (I am 6' and 180lbs) with just enough room for a light down midlayer or Norrona fleece. Trim/athletic fit (I think the length is great no matter what the product description says about it being short).

And I can definitely vouch for the seasonal versatility. I have worn the Falketind G-Tex during February skiing and mountaineering, as well as March hiking and biking trips when precipitation and wind can vary by the hour. Honestly, I don't think I would feel confident on an outing anymore without the Norrona Falketind Gore-Tex Jacket on my back or in my pack.
