Tremendous XC Ski & Hiking Hybrid
- Familiarity:
- I've used it several times
I feel like I stumbled upon a hidden gem with the Norrøna Falketind Flex1 pants. I originally bought them for cross-country skiing, but after a few weeks of heavy use, they have become my absolute favorite piece of technical kit. If you are looking for a pant that balances protection and mobility, this is it. Performance in the Snow For XC skiing, these are a dream. They offer the wind resistance you’d expect from a hardshell, but without the "plastic bag" feeling or the crinkly noise. The Flex1 fabric breathes incredibly well; even during high-output climbs, I haven't dealt with the typical moisture buildup or overheating. They shed light moisture easily, keeping me dry in snowy conditions. The "Perfect" Fit The cut of these pants is their strongest selling point. They are articulated in all the right spots, meaning they bend with your stride rather than resisting it. There is plenty of room to comfortably layer thermal leggings beneath them for those sub-zero mornings, yet they don't look baggy or loose when worn solo. Design & Features The Colors: I went with the bright yellow, and I love the bold look. It’s high-visibility and looks premium. Versatility: While they are my go-to for winter sports right now, I can already tell they are going to be my primary pants for cooler, wet hikes in the spring and summer. They are light enough to be versatile across three, if not four, seasons. Adjustability: The waist system and leg cuffs make it easy to transition from a ski boot to a hiking boot without any fuss. Final Verdict These pants are tremendous. They are the perfect "do-it-all" layer for someone who moves fast in the mountains.

Great
- Familiarity:
- I've put it through the wringer
This is my second pair of Norrona Falketind Flex pants. I've worn this pair several dozen times hiking, xc skiing, bc skiing, etc. They're great. Compared to the prior version, the material seems thicker (arguably a bit less stretchy and breathable however), there are zippered side vents, and the boot cuff also expands with a zipper to fit over some boots. The fabric is somewhat loud, so these are not for anyone sneaking around in the dark or hunting or whatever. The inseam could be a bit longer - sometimes the boot cuff doesn't quite extend far enough down a boot or shoe to keep out debris or snow. The cuff also doesn't expand super well around a full-sized AT ski boot for someone with big boots and feet. They're perfect for XC skiing however. My old pair of Norrona Falketind Flex pants had a zipper failure so we'll see if this problem repeats itself.

Awesome buy

Have worn them daily for snowshoe, xc ski, even trail running. Look great for walking around / every day wear as well. Not yet tested in super wet conditions. I'm usually a 32/33 waist and 34 length and the large fits great.

Better than I expected. Bought for snowshoeing and cold weather hikes. Have worn with light long underwear. Did the trick. Just perfect in terms of fit and feel. Can?t say enough about them.

Comfortable but not water repellent
- Familiarity:
- I've put it through the wringer
Bought the pants for an ice climbing trip in the PNW. The fit at the waist was good and easy to adjust. The length was a little long for me, and a bit baggy at the bottom. They are very comfortable. Hiking in with them was great did not overheat or sweat to much in them. Protection against wind was great. When it god cold they kept me warm. They did not really work too well as a water repellant. Water seemed to soak into them right away even just leaning against the ice. When it rained they got drenched pretty fast. Others on the trip had different soft shell pants that held up way better against the water, specially when it rained.
