A lighter way to access winter.
Backcountry ski trips already require a lot of gear, and that's before you throw in a bulky mountaineering tent in the mix. Lighten your load for your next overnight powder-seeking mission with the MSR Access 1 Tent: 1-Person 4-Season. This solo tent offers winter-worthy protection, but with a much lighter design that's more comparable to a backpacking tent.
The unique central support frame optimizes interior space to fit all your gear while resisting snow loading, so the tent doesn't collapse when storms strike in the middle of the night. And since there's less stuff you have to deal with using frozen fingers, the unified frame is also easier to set up in cold conditions. Tough and lightweight Easton Syclone poles resist breaking, and the large vestibule keeps your boots and other gear safe from the snow without taking up all of the tent's livable space.
- Light and strong for winter backcountry trips
- Water-resistant fly and floor won't succumb to snow
- Durable fabrics offer protection in cold, snowy conditions
- Easton Syclone poles resist breakage
- Optimized interior space design
- Resists snow-loading to avoid collapse
Better than expected!
- Familiarity: I've used it several times
When I initially began my quest to find the perfect 1-person tent, I wasn't quite sure what I was looking for. After spending quite some time perusing the internet, I spotted what I thought was the ideal shelter situation. Imagine: articulate limbs and head allowing one to travel freely with full range of motion while still having a sturdy and suitable shelter to keep you dry and protected from the elements and insects; see below. Upon further research, the tent that I spotted on the internet was most similar to the MSR Access Tent. Without hesitation, I pulled trigger.
Upon delivery however, I was completely bamboozled! It seems that the eggheads over at MSR took my idea, and made it better by just making the best dang tent on the market! No need for articulation anymore because once you are in this palace of a shelter, you'll never want to leave!
This tent is incredibly easy to setup, I was able to construct what was essentially a mansion in a matter of minutes in the field. Once erected, it is clear that the quality of this is second to none. I used this on a ski-touring trip and the double-layer membrane kept me warm and dry throughout the night. All of the seams and welds seem incredibly sturdy and of the utmost quality. What I was most impressed with however, was how packable it was. Within a few minutes again, I had this stowed away comfortably in my pack with all of my supplies, avy gear, and whisky!
