Mountain Hardwear Gloves

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

No surprise here from Mountain Hardware. Great gloves that are well made, warm and durable.

My Uphill Favorite

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

These gloves are durable, the perfect weight (for me), provide really good dexterity, and easy to get on and off. This is my third pair of these. I've got a different iteration each time. This generation has a very thin fleece liner, where there other ones did not. This will make them a bit warmer. Otherwise the fit and construction are identical. I like the new pull loop, that's an improvement.

Work on snow cats with these

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I was looking for a non all leather softshell glove for work at a ski area. I figured these would blow out like the rest, after I use them everyday for work.
Damb things are bombproof. You wouldn't know it by looking at them. Any other glove would have been dust by now. These things look like they just came outta the box.
Get what you pay for.

Ouray Ice Climbing

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I bought these and the BD Punishers with the advice that I would need one set of gloves for climbing, and while those dried and I belayed I could use the other pair. Turned out I used the Torsion all day. Very nimble glove and and never had too much issue with the ice tools. Very happy with these and can't wait to put them to real use again.

Seriously, get these.

  • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share

My brother needed a good glove to wear walking downtown where wind chill and the cold wasn't friendly. He wanted a driving glove that offered dexterity and warmth when you get in the car and your steering wheel is the last thing to warmth up. Something to build snowmen with my nieces and not be soaking wet and fingers frozen once the coal buttons are in place. Let's just say this handled it all with no complaints. We live here in Utah and the snow is dry but the day he wore these to build that snowman it was warm and the snow melting. He mentioned a concern but was nothing but pleased with the outcome. I asked him about any temp rating on these he said he hasn't experienced any time where it was too cold. As far as sizing he likes a good fit for driving gloves and again, dexterity so we went with a Large, it was perfect.

I will be purchasing some of these as a unisex option. I tried these on in a large before giving them to him , yes I'm that person and with the size guide offered (Large : 7.5-8") and my hand measuring at 8" it was the right fit. So along with everything, true to size. I also love the Shark/Slate, very cool color and a good transition out of your 'everything black' issue. Even I will be getting the same color, I always did steal his stuff.

I ordered the Torsion Glove (in gender neutral sizing) for cool weather dry tooling on steep mixed conditions. Instead I found these to be PERFECT for tooling my Tacoma through the neighborhood on the way to the dog park (my labradoodle approves!). And did I mention the snow shoveling functionality?!? Whoa, Mountain Hardware, you hit the ice screw on the head with these babies! And always, hats off to Backcountry for the speedy 2-day UPS... Um, disregard that. It looks like my order was sent via On-Trac instead :(

Hey Zirkel,
Sorry for the disappointment with the shipping method. I don't mind some OnTrac since I've never had issues with their delivery and they are always so quick. Showing with your purchase on the evening of the 18th, OnTrac will actually ship it to you sooner than UPS. Since you ordered after the 5pm MST cut off time UPS would have picked it up the next business day, 2/19. Instead Ontrac picked it up that night and you will have it a day earlier on the 22nd.

Please feel free to let us know if you have ANY issue with the item or shipping and we can always get that taken care of for you. Thanks for your patience and enjoy!
