Dad loves it!

  • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share

I got this as a gift for my dad, who lives in the Seattle area and needed a rain jacket upgrade. This one is a great stretchy material that moves well with you, is comfortable, breathes well, and isn't as noisy as a standard shell! He has raved about it the past few months, and it has been standing up well for his commuting and hiking. Highly recommend!

Best All Around Jacket

I have had this jacket for around a year now and I love it. It is the best fall jacket I own. It isnt super heavy and isnt too light but provides the just right amount of warmth. It is also wind resistant which is a great plus. Would totally recomend this jacket.

One of my favorites!

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
  • Fit: True to size

Do you ever get that piece of gear that you just say to yourself "they did this right!" This is that piece. I don't have anything bad to say about this jacket. I love the long sleeves, weight, fully taped seams, comfortable fabric, stretchy, and style. Everything about this jacket is done right. Even the vents under the arms are perfect, they aren't long enough to actually run through your pit, which means you don't have to feel that awkward zipper all day long. I highly recommend this jacket.

Great Mobility!

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

This jacket has a great relaxed fit and incredible mobility with a fabric that has some good stretch to it. While many would aptly use this piece for hiking or climbing due to the increased range of motion, I like to swim against the current a bit. So I decided to use it on the golf course when we ran into a bit of weather. It held up great and didn't impede my swing at all! It was a light rain but not a single drop had soaked into the jacket. It beaded up and rolled right off. In addition, the state orange color really pops out there on the golf course.. No one is gonna miss you in this thing. So you'll never have to worry about anyone hitting into you. Overall, awesome piece, great fit!

Lightweight, packable, stretchy goodness

I took this shell through a 90 mile traverse of the Wind River High Route. This year the Winds had a 150% snow pack, meaning that a decent portion of the route was glissading and traversing snow fields. This, along with the standard 1pm thunderstorm every day made for some wet conditions. This jacket performed very well for those flash storms, kept me warm on the windy ridges, and was only 9 oz so it didn't weigh me down.

This isn't the lightest weight shell like the OR Helium at 6 oz, but the extra pockets, 2.5l membrane, and stretch mobility are worth an extra 3 oz. This thing still stuffs inside its pocket and packs down very small.

Absolutely awesome

Super stretchy and dynamic, breathable and waterproof. I use it for multi pitch climbing and absolutely love it. It packs down so small and really helps keep you warm on a brisk morning, in the shade, or when your a few pitches up and the wind is hitting you on a hanging belay.

I recently used it for whit water rafting and it fit in the pocket of my PFD. I was jumping in and swimming freezing cold rapids a bunch, and even though it was completely submerged, I pulled it out of my pocket and it dried in 5 minutes and help me stay warm as the wind picked up.

I'm 6'2" 165 lbs
I'm pretty tall and skinny but have broad climbers shoulders a size medium fits and works well for climbing, but size large is a better fit and would accommodate layers better.

Stretchy Comfort

This jacket is great, the material is top notch. I took this on a long weekend to Steamboat to put some use on the river with. We had some overcast weather and a bit of chilly weather and this jacket held right up.

The fit on the jacket is very close to an alpine fit, meaning someone who is a bit slimmer with longer arms would find a good fit to this style of jacket

Love it!

it's light weight, water proof and has great style. Does the job and holds up well with its great quality.

So this is my second rain jacket from MH and I may never buy another brand! I beat up the first so bad that the lining started to shred, was a bit concerned, but I wanted to try MH again as the fit was perfect. I am 73" and 205 with broad shoulders so finding a jacket that fits up top and isn't a circus tent at the waist is hard. The Ozonic fits really well and moves with me when I am out on the town or hauling a ruck around the world. I love the stretchy material and it moves quietly not the plastic on plastic sound of other rain jackets. No problems with the rain but I haven't seen a big storm yet. The one negative, I was upset with the color at first. I got my hands on the Thunderhead Grey, on 50% sale at the time, but it isn't really grey at all. More of a muted OD Green. Thunder clouds tend to be more grey in my neck of the woods so that was a bit misleading. Overall the color is decent and I am happy.

Waterproof and awesome

I purchased this jacket for raining days and / or chilly days to take the edge off. When I first got it i was dying to test how water proof it was. There was no rain in the forecast so I stuck the arm under the kitchen faucet and it rolled off like water on a duck's back. I know it sounds lame but you cant just wait until it rains to find out. Since my scientific test I've worn it in the rain with the same result. Just a little shake and the water rolls off.
The best part is the comfort. It's stretchy which makes me never want to take it off. Overall awesome. I like jackets a little on the fitted side so I purchased a small. I'm 5-9, 150#. I dont wear sweatshirts under it. If I planned to wear a sweatshirt under it I'd probably get a medium.

Stretchy goodness

I am 5'11" and 195lbs. This is a size L jacket. Haven't used this specific jacket out in the elements. Would be ideal for hiking/backpacking. It also looks nice and can be casually worn around. If you have any questions about the fit or use of this jacket or any other Mountain Hardwear product, please let me know!

Stretchy goodness

Thank you for the visual, helps much more!

cool lightweight jacket

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
  • Fit: True to size

I love how the jacket looks, and it's pretty small & ligthweight, so I can always carry it in my backpack. Regarding waterproof, so far I've test it in small rains and it has hold up pretty well. Need to test it when it's pouring.
I ordered a M, which is my usual size in everything and it fit perfect.

Lightweight and holds up

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

This is a great rain jacket that is both lightweight and breathable given the softshell material.

Versatile and Waterproof

Great jacket. Waterproof and lightweight. Large fits well enough on me, maybe could have went down to a medium but a large gives me room to layer underneath it.

Versatile Comfort and Protection

I picked up this jacket before my most recent trip to guide skiing in Patagonia. I wanted a lightweight/packable/breathable shell for light-duty ski touring and for casual jaunts in the mountains. I was impressed by the comfort and ability to fit multiple layers underneath. It is a joy to wear for long skins when the sun is shining and you need a bit of a wind breaker. I also found it to be quite good in light precip, although don't count on it to sustain a downpour, no gore-tex here. I would recommend this to mountain folks also looking for something to wear around town when the weather isn't too cold.

Versatile Comfort and Protection

Perfect Flex for your Treks.

  • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share
  • Fit: Runs large

I got my husband one of these to take hiking on the Oregon coast. I wore the women's version, and we were both impressed with the quality of this jacket. It will keep you dry, dry, dry while helping you out with breathe-ability. The fabric has a nice elasticity about it, which allows it to move with you instead of resisting your adventurous desires. The design and fit are flattering, both in the mens' and womens' versions. If you're in-between sizes, size down unless you want to layer something thicker underneath.

Feels so great

It runs slightly large. This is a great shell that feels way more comfortable than a shell should. Nuff said!

Very Impressed With This Jacket

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: XL

I've used it a quite a bit and I'm extremely impressed with the quality of this jacket. The sizing is on point, I'm 6'1" 195lbs and purchased a size XL which fits me perfectly. Most of the time when I buy size XL jackets they fit me how they should in the shoulders but a little too wide in the waist. I didn't have that problem with the Stretch Ozonic Jacket and the stretchy material makes it so that when I'm reaching my arms out forward or moving around I don't feel like I'm going to break out of it.

At first I didn't believe something so light and thin could be waterproof but my initial impression was very wrong. I've worn this jacket in heavy rain and not a drop of moisture got through to my inner layers. Not to mention the breathability is top notch. I've worn this jacket on bike rides, hikes, shoveling through over a foot of snow, and I haven't found an activity that was a match for this jacket. On warmer days or when you just want a little more airflow you can unzip the armpit vents for extra ventilation. My only complaint is that it isn't very windproof, which is nothing that a good mid-layer can't fix.

Overall, I think this is the one jacket that I could use for any spring, summer or fall activity and be confident that I won't be getting wet or overheated.

If you have questions about how the Ginkgo color will look in person this photo is a good example.

Very Impressed With This Jacket

Is it just a shell? Only the membrane or any fabric in the interior?

Hey Michael - This jacket is just a shell, it is not insulated, although the interior has a basic nylon backing. Feel free to contact me directly with any additional questions.
