Hardwear for the mountain.
In some ways, the Mountain Hardwear Men's Hardwear AP Shirt is just as important the climbing bolt you're trying to drill in the wall. Sure, the bolt is supposed to protect you when you blow your first ascent onsight, but it isn't much help when you smear off the slab and the only thing you have protecting your skin from cheese grating off the rock is this shirt's durable, stretch, breathable fabric. At this point you're probably heading back to the car wondering if you wouldn't have fallen if you skipping drilling the bolt in the first place.
- Button-up almost as important as climbing pitons
- Durable, sanded canvas fabric stretches and breathes
- Q & A
Good-lookin' & tough.
- Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
- Fit: True to size
- Size Bought: Medium
I own multiple pairs of the AP pants and love the fabric. I was really excited when the shirt came out. Now I own multiples of the shirt too.
The fabric was a little stiff when I got it, but has loosened up after wearing and washing. I wear it most often unbuttoned as an over-shirt. It looks nice, but has enough stretch and is durable enough to be functional for whatever I happen to be doing.
I wear it on motorcycle rides and it provides good wind protection and dries quickly.
I'm 5'9", ~160 lbs, athletic build. A medium fits well as an overshirt/shacket. A small works for a more tailored look.
