Best Hoodie Ever!!!

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: Runs large
  • Size Bought: Medium

Literally haven't taken this hoodie off since I got it. It's super comfortable, looks good, and is packed with awesome feature, like a zip kangaroo pocket, and hood. I love the Polartec grid fleece is extremely breathable making it perfect for high output activities like touring or hiking, but it's surprisingly warm and also works as a mid-layer under my shell when riding the resort. It's a lot of money to fork up for a fleece, but the classic styling makes it super versatile as and active or casual piece. It runs slightly larger than many of the other fleeces I've worn, although it has a roomier cut than many of the other technical fleeces out there like the Patagonia R1.

      • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
      • Fit: True to size
      • Size Bought: Large

Being the most expensive top in MH current line, I suppose like a Falcons flight I had high expectations. I returned it mostly due to poor fit and high price. To me the fit didn't make sense. As part technical, part regular I couldn't think of a single activity where this would excel over other less expensive layers I already have in my kit. It might have worked for me as a casual piece but not at this price point.

PROS: extremely light, zip hem, protected collar, grid fleece, desirable colors

CONS: short sleeves, poor fit(tight arms, somewhat baggy body), lacks warmth vs other similar light weight grid fleeces I already own, no thumb holes, kangaroo pocket adds weight and bulk, expensive

      great base/mid layer

So if this isn't Polartec Power Grid fleece it's something very, very similar. The fit is close and technical enough with a looser-fitting scuba hood - not a balaclava style, it hangs almost like a "normal" hoody, with some comfortable, not-too-tight elastic around the opening. It performs exceptionally well, just as you would expect of a Power-Grid mid layer. I like the fact that it's not too tight, and even has a zip-through hem on the right side which makes it really easy to take off with one hand if you need to drop a layer fast, but with the comfort and performance of a pullover. I'm loving Mountain Hardwear lately - some of their new gear seems outstanding, and this is one of those pieces i wear almost every day. Just a heads-up on fit: It says Regular, and i would say it's a regular technical fit. Not compressive or anything, but definitely not a relaxed-fit. Enjoy :-)
