Alpine Light 35L Backpack

The Mountain Hardwear Alpine Light 35L Backpack is an ultra-versatile pack for your alpine adventures whether you're ski mountaineering or heading up to crush a new trad route. Combining polyester and tough Dyneema fabric, the Alpine Light is durable, lightweight, and waterproof to battle the high alpine elements and push you to new peaks. Multiple gear attachment points can fit everything from ice axes to a climbing rope, and compression straps lock down your gear and prevent your gear from shuffling inside your pack. The 7000 series aluminum back panel supports heavier loads or can be removed for lighter, quicker scrambles.

  • A versatile pack for high alpine adventures
  • Dyneema fabric is durable and lightweight
  • 7000 series removable aluminum frame supports big loads
  • Gear loops carry ice axes, crampons, or a climbing rope
  • Padded backpack straps and back panel provide all day comfort
  • A frame ski carry allows extra gear for mountaineering

Lightweight and functional

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: s/m

My name is Tim Emmett, I'm an athlete with MHW (22 years). I worked with the designers on this project to help create the ultimate lightweight alpine pack. This is what we came up with, a minimalist, functional, super light pack that I can take on alpine adventures.
Being and alpinist, I am looking up a lot so I like to be able to move my head freely without it hitting my pack lid. We created this pack that it can be used without the lid, but still have pockets that you I can keep essentials with ease of access.
There are two pockets, one on each side and also an additional removable one inside the pack for important things like sat phone, GPS, keys, and can also be used as a stash bag for the pack itself.
The foam back panel can be removed and used to sit on, even if you're caught out for an unexpected bivi! I like that axe's can be attached and taken off easily with gloves, and crampon stash point is accessible on the outside of the pack so that when you encounter steep terrain, you can get to them easily.
I've been using mine more recently for ski touring and also ice climbing.

Great backpack

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I'm Charlotte, a French climber in my 30s, and I've been expatriated in fun Salt Lake City, UT for 2 years now.

Been using this bag in many situation and it's been great. My favorite parts are how sturdy it is for its lightness and how many things I can put in and out of it (from all my sport climbing gear to a full kit for a 4 days backcountry skiing trip).
Also I added the top pocketed flapper to mine which adds a lot of convenient room for loose stuff.
