Mountain Force Carbon Pant - Men's

Nearly perfect pants.

Perfect powder and sunny afternoons are easy to enjoy, but dealing with wet, constricted, and uncomfortable legs is a good way put a cramp in your otherwise sublime day on the slopes. Mountain Force's Carbon Men's Pants won't let that happen, though, because Mountain Force engineered them with a CM Ceramic waterproof and breathable membrane, finished off with fully taped seams that won't let champange powder or springtime snow penetrate your pants, so you can focus on laying down perfect figure eights and enjoying sunsoaked midmountain balconies.

Staying dry is only one part of the equation, though. Warmth is equally important, which is why Mountain Force filled the Carbon with 40g synthetic insulation, which traps heat close to your body and stays warm even if you manage to get it wet. The brushed lining adds a little bit of extra insulation and slides smoothly over baselayers for unhindered motion, and both the lining and the tough face fabric are engineered with four-way stretch, so you can move freely from perfect groomers to boot-top powder to your afternoon cocktail. If you venture out into the teeth of storm, the Carbon's waterproof zippers, stretch powder skirt, and kidney protectors will keep you safe from spindrift, wind, and deep snow, while the adjustable waist tabs let you nail the perfect fit without worrying about bringing a belt along for the ride.

European Size

  • Fit: Runs small
  • Size Bought: xxl

I am 6' 1" and 230 so i ordered an xxl and the pants were marked xxl but i suspect that they were either European size or xxl young women. I couldn't even get them to my knees. needless to say I returned them. nice garment but don't use the associated size chart as it is not even close runs very very small.

Size for waist measuring 36", height 6'1", weight 185?

Hi Robert, these pants are running a little small it seems, in your case I would go with the XL. If you have any other questions, please let me know. - Matthew Pizza - Expert Gearhead

Carbon Pants are fantastic!

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: medium

I purchased these last week after several months of trying to find reviews and justifying the cost. I should have just bought them at the beginning of the season! The old adage of buy once cry once certainly applies here. I have a 30/31 inch waste and I purchased the Medium pants. The fit really well and the fit and finish is absolutely impeccable. They are light weight and are not constricting at all - I was skiing yesterday at 20 degrees with a 5-10 mile hour wind and I was warm with a single layer Opedix compression pant. underneath. When the temp started to rise I used the thigh zips and the extra heat was gone in minutes. These look good - function well and are worth every penny! In the pic I am wearing the Mountain Force Rider 2 Jacket - it is killer as well!

Mountain force gear is a true masterpiece. I was a rep at Gore before moving to Backcountry. I have seen a lot of gear in my life and this line is the most over engineered line of outerwear I have ever seen. It's designed like a fine swiss watch. For the record I haven't skied in these. I only went to our warehouse because I was intrigued by the brand and wanted to try on the product for myself.

The pants have a feel very different than a hard shell. All aspects of the materials from the pockets to the main fabric has a soft stretch to it. It makes the pants incredibly nice to move around in while being active.

Mountain Force uses a thin and stretchable ceramic membrane to achieve waterproofness and breathability. All aspects of the fabric are produced in Japan. Mountain Force checks 100% of the fabric they use. Anything that doesn't pass the test goes back to Japan. That can easily be seen in the consistency of the fabric when the pants are on.

One of the nicest aspects of the parts are the seams. They are all ultrasonically welded. It gives everything on the garment a clean and finished look. It also makes for incredibly flexible seams which increases that soft feel.

Additionally, snaps to attach a mountain force powder skirt and laser cut vents and functionally placed pockets are just a few more details that make these pants incredible.

Amazing pants!

"Nearly perfect pants" is correct. They move and stretch with you. I am going into my 3rd ski season of wearing Mountain Force pants and they are amazing. The back powder skirt helps for keeping the chill off of my lower back. For not feeling like they have much insulation, they are plenty warm. If it's below 0 degrees F, I'm probably staying in, but between 0 and 20, I will use only one mid-weight base layer like a Patagonia Capilene 3 and be completely comfortable and warm. Between 20 and 35, I will use a Cap 1 silk weight layer. Anything warmer than that, it's just the pants. These are the thinnest insulated pants that I have but they are also the warmest. They are not cheap but once you get a pair, you won't want to use anything else. The only "warning" is that these are a soft-shell type of pant so don't expect them to be as dry as a high quality hard shell.
As far as sizing goes, they are European sizing so they run a little slim. If you have a thicker build, size up one size. I'm 5'11" and 170 pounds and a Large fits great.
