No magic here, just protection.
While its name might allude to mysticism and ancient ways, the only sorcery that the Mountain Equipment Men's Tupilak Pant is culpable of is its bewitching and hard-wearing performance in the face of trying conditions. Designed for ice climbing or pursuits high above the treeline, the Tupilak boasts a no-frills, minimalist silhouette—so you're able to focus on the task at hand, rather than worrying about your pocket zipper infringing your mobility.
Additionally, the Tupilak is constructed with a Gore-Tex Pro 3-layer shell that not only assures waterproof protection in the face of unpredictable conditions, but also offers breathable performance and ensures a comfortable climate for your bottom half. The internal gaiters are fully removable, and the reinforced crampon kick-strips provide added longevity against sharp objects. Not to mention, the adjustable suspenders are fashioned with full-length zippers and a drop seat for a personalized fit and on-the-go bathroom breaks.

I've got more items from Mountain Equipment than I can count.
These pants paired with the Tupilak Jacket are the same thing as an Arc'teryx Alpha SV set up but for less.
I'm a 33" waist and wear a Medium across the board in Mountain Equipment apparel. The fit on these is great and I love the simplicity of them. No crazy/unneeded features.
No frills whatsoever, excellent quality

These are great pants clearly purpose built for serious mountaineering....so much so, they do not include a single pocket. All other features are fantastic, but the lack of any pocket whatsoever was a slight ding and cost a star, though for the purist (which these pants are made for) the lack of pocket may not matter. I am 6'5" and 205lbs, as such I often have a hard time finding gear that fits in length without being way too large in every other dimension. For my build, the XL in standard length was a bit short and so I did not keep the pants after trying them. They are also a close fit around the upper thigh and hip when seated, but outstanding when up and moving about. Overall fantastic pant, but be aware trim fit and lack of pockets.
