Embrace the switch.

There are alpinists who switch in and out of midlayers between treks and resting spots, and there are alpinists who just wear the Mountain Equipment Men's Switch Jacket. This hybrid midlayer uses moisture-managing fleece at the sleeves and air permeable Polartec Alpha insulation at the body. Compared to standard breathable garments, Polartec Alpha starts breathing the moment you put it on to keep you prime when the ascent gets sweaty.

versatile athletic layering piece

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

This is one of my favorite pieces of insulation. I think the breathability of it is what makes it so comfortable for all conditions. It's an athletic fit, form fitting, and works well under a shell. The wind resistance in the front makes it so that I also wear it a lot on its own. I have yet to find situation where this jacket doesn't perform.

Most versatile piece of gear in my pack

Switch Jacket has quickly become my go to piece for almost all of my outdoor activities. It's trim fit, combine with stretch fleece side panels and arms give it amazing freedom of motion. It's perfect for my early morning mountain bike rides, running, and awesome for skinning up. The insulation in the chest and back seem to breath really well. Also providing the right amount of warmth when I layer it under a shell or windbreaker. Love it!
