Gear up for the unexpected.

An ultralight rain jacket that weighs next to nothing is great when the chance of rain is minimal, but when prolonged exposure to storms that can last most of the day is a threat, then the full-featured Mountain Equipment Men's Odyssey Jacket is the way to go. A burly three-layer Drilite waterproof and breathable shell, fully sealed seams, and adjustable Mountain Hood offers protection from pounding rain, and the robust 40-denier nylon face works to resist wear. These combine to make this jacket great for week-long backpacking trips in wet climates and adventurous day hikes where contact with brush and rock is to be expected.

Although durable, the Odyssey is still a lightweight shell with a weight of just 13.5oz, so it won't add too much weight to your pack during those gear-intensive trips where space and weight can be limited. In terms of features, the Odyssey has two zippered hand pockets, adjustable hems, and zippered underarm vents.

Technical performer!

This is a great all around shell. It's totally waterproof and can accommodate a helmet. I like the cuff adjustments because they give good hand coverage and cut down on the water running through the cuffs when you're out in the rain for a long time. Hood can be cinched down well so it is comfortable even without a helmet! So far, durability has been outstanding!

I've been using this jacket for the last couple of seasons and it has been absolutely bombproof. Weather I'm out tackling technical ascents in the Rockies or strolling through town to pick up some groceries it has kept me dry. Fit wise it has an oversized hood that easily fits over a helmet and has little bit of extra length in the arms which is great for when you have your arms over head while climbing, however this does create a little bit of a baggy area at the cuff while your hands are down at your side. There is a velcro strap to keep it from passing over your wrist though. Other than that there is nothing to fault.
