When you hit the water this summer, be sure to have a few Montana Fly Company BH Soft Hackles in your kit. This wingless pattern moves naturally under the water, with a bead head helping it drop to the right level to bait choosy fish into going for a bite. The 12-pack ensures that even with trees, shrubs, and your little cousins around to catch your fly on, you'll have plenty of replacements if you lose a fly—or two or three.

Fishing on the swing

One of my home rivers is notorious for picky fish sipping emergers. Most people size down and throw a dry dropper, but wet hackles on the swing are a lot of fun. sinking tip or trout spey and work the swing to fish...exciting takes and fish are less picky. I tend to miss more fish on the swing, but have a lot of fun.
