Useful and cheap

Strong and abrasion resistant, I don't have anything to bash on them, they saved my life.

    10 inch Yellow

    10 inch Yellow

    Carry many

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

Always better to have more than not enough. Various lengths and your ready for anything. Although I have't found a use for the 10 inch yet. Great product though.

    Nice for going in direct

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Like everybody says, these are particularly great for clipping into anchors. Softer, less jolty feel than dyneema runners makes cleaning/multi-pitch belaying a bit less nerve-racking. I did get a little burn on one when a rope ran against it, so I worry a bit about longevity. But they're nice for now.

Nylon handles heat from friction better than Dyneema/Dynex. So, it should hold up relatively well, over time.

    good sling

picked up a double length the other day since BD was out of stock. the metolious sling is just as high quality. pick one up!

      Pretty cool...

The slings do what they need to do but my only complaint is the cost... A guy can buy webbing, tie a water knot, and blam!

The difference in cost is AMAZING!

But... that being said, Metolius is a great company and I am proud to say I own a couple of these that have been helpful and durable. That's all a climber can ask for!

        Sweet Slings!

If you are looking for a solid nylon runner the Metolius 18mm Open Nylon Sling is always a good choice. I have about a dozen in different lengths and they are really all that you can ask for in a nylon runner. I love that they come in assorted colors, it's always a surprise, you never know what you're gonna get!

Use these when cleaning, they work really well.

Great for attaching yourself to anchors

I got a couple of these for canyoneering so that I could attach myself to the anchor at the top of the rappel to make clipping in a lot safer. They work great.

              No Foresight

Who though it would be a good idea to make their slings 2 inches smaller than the industry standard sizes? The slings them self are great, but the sizing thing is annoying.

They have a funny lengths. My 22in is certainly not a 60cm and it's shy of 2ft... Not a big deal, just odd. It makes a nice racking sling, and I'll probably stick to Sterlings or BDs. Can't complain about looks or quality either.

sport cleaning, great for the $

For Nylon, they are thinner than some of the other alternatives and crazy cheapo for those not into the prices of dyneema.

I haven't had any issue fitting these into any particular harnesses for cleaning or whatever. Used them for the past season and have noticed some mild wear/fray. I barely used these to set any kind of anchors or belay system and mostly used them only to clean sport routes.

They're still usable, and I'd get more if I need extra nylon slings. I'll probably try out the BlackDiamon version next to compare wear n tear. These do look cooler, if nothing else.

                    If you're going nylon

I have a couple of these and use them as my utility slings for when I'm going to a static system. For most uses though I suggest going Dyneema for not much more money.

                      Metolius 18mm Open Nylon Sling

I've been happy with this purchase. it's my current favorite utility sling.
