    Rekon 3C/EXO/TR Tire

Inspired by the all-around versatility of the Ikon, Maxxis' eager Rekon 3C/EXO/TR Tire was made to venture off smooth hardpack and onto more technical trail and all-mountain environs. This beefed-up version of a classic comes with a fast-rolling 120 TPI and capable triple-compound construction that will keep you and your nimble XC steed skipping over singletrack built for bikes far beastlier than yours.

To equip the Rekon for chunkier terrain, Maxxis combines wide center knobs with L-shaped side knobs to give you grip and control while braking and stability when you're railing around tacky berms. You already know your overachieving 120mm XC bike can handle its fair share of bumps, so with the Rekon's EXO reinforcement, you'll be able to steer straight onto the more technical lines and downhill-only trails knowing your frame is backed up by some seriously tough rubber.

    • Test your XC bike on techy, committing trails with the Rekon
    • 3C Maxx Terra compound grips with low rolling resistance
    • EXO protection and tubeless-ready design ward off flats
    • Knob profile blends braking control with cornering stability

    Traction and Speed!

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

These tires fit prefect on my 2017 Devinci Troy Carbon with 30mm internal width rims. On paper, they weigh about 200g less than my 2.4 High Roller II 3C combo. The first time i used these tires was on an 80 mile bikepacking trip. It was 50/50 road to rail trail. On the road these tires rolled fairly well for what they are. I was easily able to keep momentum on the flats with a little more effort needed going up steep road climbs. On the rail trails, these things rolled easily on the hardpack. On my local trails, I was able to conquer a semi-loose steep climb without spinning out, thanks to the wide tire profile. Take note, however that these tires are not meant for mud or really loose trails and will not perform as well on them. That being said, these tires work outstanding for it's intended purpose and I'm sticking with 2.6" tires for a while.

    Great Rear Tire

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I got this tire to replace the rear tire on my Pivot Mach 5.5. It has the perfect amount of traction for braking on steep downhills but without being so bulky it slows you down on the climb up. I went with this beefier version of the Rekon as I flatted the standard Rekon. I wanted to see if this would offer more protection and if for sure does! However, it does add a little bit more weight to my bike. If you're not too concerned with adding a bit of weight to your bike I would highly recommend this tire!
