- Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
- Fit: True to size
I needed a new helmet after a gnarly encounter with black ice on my way home recently. Looking at replacements, the brand I used to always use is owned by an arms manufacturer. So I looked at other options and this helmet caught my eye. What a great price! Surely it is a budget model, or very heavy? No, in looking at it carefully the specs and weight are all very competitive with top-end helmets elsewhere. I gave it a go and upon receipt was extremely pleased to find that it fits so perfectly on my head that I barely feel it. I’ve had other helmets that felt good, but not like this. The adjustment mechanism at the back also works very, very well. I love it. I also note that the straps flow through from one side to the other, so you will never have to fiddle around with adjusting the straps to get your helmet to not tilt to one side like my last one did. That really bugged me. In terms of function on the bike, the ventilation seems good and I note that it has some light mesh to keep out bugs, a rare feature I had a few helmets ago and have missed. As for its ultimate function, will the Ksyrium Pro MIPS keep my head from being cracked open in a fall? Only time will tell...
