No frills here.
What you really need to ask yourself is whether you really need a jacket with aerodynamic spoilers coming off the shoulders and a hood with an integrated propeller hat. The Marmot Wayfarer Men's Jacket may not come with every feature under the sun, but it does feature a dependable design that will work well whether you're skiing on a stormy spring day, hiking through a summer rain storm, or just trying to get from bar to bar without getting cold and wet from driving winds and nuking snow.
Built with a Gore-Tex shell, the Wayfarer delivers waterproof and breathable protection, while fully taped seams ensure moisture doesn't come creeping through the cracks. The hood may be lacking that plastic propeller to give you extra lift when you go airborne, but it is fully adjustable so you can draw it close to your noggin when you're riding a chairlift during a snow storm, or waiting out a rain storm on a windy ridge line. Marmot even added its DriClime chin guard to prevent any unsightly rashes on your chin or neck from killing your après-ski game.

Just What I Was Looking For-But Better!
- Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
- Fit: Runs small
- Size Bought: Large
I was expecting to see a nice jacket (when it arrived), but this is a GREAT jacket! Nice roomy pockets, inside & out; very functional. The collar does not "stab" me in the face and it has the smooth & easy zippers. The weight is only slightly greater than a non-lined one ( this has a light & smooth nylon lining in the sleeves & body), but it is not a even a "medium" weight jacket. Great protection from wind & rain. I'm 5'10/163lb; sz. Lg. is perfect!!! I'm glad I did not try the medium size first. The shoulders are perfect, the body is on the "trim" side-but with enough room to comfortably wear layers. I hate clothing that is too tight-this is "just right". The quality of construction seems to be, also, very good.

Staying dry and keeping warm while fishing are a top priority at 90 yrs of age. My father in law wears a fleece and this coat on early morning fishing outings and "it is the best".
