great hoodie

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: Medium

This is a great hoodie! Slimmer fit, with longer arms, which is perfect for me. I'm typically a medium in the body, but a lot of times I have to jump up to a large in shirts or jackets just to get the arms to fit best. Warm enough to wear on its own on more mild days, but slides well under a shell when needed. Not super lightweight, but was not expecting it to be.

Love this coat!!

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: XL

I have written a couple of other reviews that pertain to sizing issues. Thankfully, this is not one of them. After reading some comments about Marmot sizing, either too long or big this coat is exactly how I envisioned it form the photo. The Torso has an athletic fit, just enough where the look is somewhat tailored. Nice lines without all the baggy in an XL. The fabric, weight and insulation levels seem more appropriate for cool not cold weather. Longer fit to keeps the arms from riding up and your kidneys covered when making athletic moves. Also, I love the feel of the hood being big enough but not sloppy. Lastly, there was a small seperation of the inner liner of one of the sleeves. I initially thought it was an arm vent but saw that it was a stitching issue. Nothing a little needlework wont fix and I love the jacket so much it wont be going back for such a small flaw.

Perfect

First of all if you work out at all or are just an active person you will love the Marmot gear in general. They make the arm length and waist length long on purpose so when your reaching, jumping and climbing your still covered. I have read people complaining about the length of arms who obviously don't understand the company's concept. I didn't like the price tag on this item but waited for the sale and bought it. I am 6'1" 190 athletic build and find that large fits me perfectly. I bought this particular item so I could layer but have found it works perfect on its own. Marmot

any temp ratings on this? I am in the NE US where temps can go from 40 F to -10 F in a day. Would likely use as a standalone for daily use. have other gear to layer if needed.

    Hey Tom,

This is more of a casual jacket, rather than an outerwear. I would see this as more of a sweatshirt actually. Though it could be used a jacket if the purpose is for house to car to office with a layer on top if it's cold.
