Après parties to uptown evenings.

Trapping warmth in upscale style, the Marmot Women's Southgate Down Jacket effortlessly transitions from slopeside festivities in alpine villages to frigid urban escapades. Lightweight 700-fill down insulation offers superb warmth-to-weight with its lofty down clusters, retaining precious body heat when the mercury plummets. Marmot's Down Defender treatment prevents moisture-laden air and heavy snow from compromising the down's loft, ensuring you stay toasty in soaking-wet conditions.

Ultimately, MemBrain offers the waterproof protection needed for inclement winter weather, all without soaking you in built-up perspiration from the inside out. Keeping biting winter winds from freezing your face, the removable hood features a faux fur trim that balances chic sensibilities with protection of sensitive facial skin.

Great jacket with a strange fit

  • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share
  • Size Bought: Medium

Quality and insulation of the jacket is good. The only problem is the cut. If you have wide shoulders, avoid this jacket cos its cut too narrow.
Also the cut for both the upper limbs are so wide n puffy as if they are for kingkong. Seriously these do not add up - narrow shoulder widths with huge upper limbs cut.

Fit and design could be better

  • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: small

Based on reviews I ordered a small (5'0" and 120lbs). Although it fit, I wanted more room for layering. The two outer pockets and inner pocket should be deeper. The hood does not extend far enough in front to fully cover the head. For these reasons, I'm returning. However, it seems well constructed, and looking at the material and trying it on, I trust it would be warm and waterproof. Overall length was good. Color was nice but more cranberry than red, which I like. Not a bad coat but just felt like there's another one out there that would make me happier:)

Not for me

  • Size Bought: xs

I am very tall and very thin - 5'10" and 110lbs. This coat is very wide and has short sleeve length for me. I can see how this would be super warm. I do like that the coat has a front zipper AND snaps. It is on the more masculine side in its appearance. I am more worried about warmth, comfort, and fit than looks when it comes to a winter coat. Anyway, I will be returning this coat due to its shortcomings in the sleeve length and it being much too wide for my small frame.

Can you please tell me the length of this jacket from the neck down to the bottom where it would be by your lower back/upper legs.

Hey Kristi! That measurement, also called the center back length, is 29 inches!

Love this jacket! Cute and super warm. Went ice fishing for 5 hours and it stood up to an Alaskan winter day. 10/10

the best coat I ever bought

It was my first time buying from Backcountry. I normally don’t write reviews but this is the best coat I ever bought, warm, comfortable, I got the XS and it fits perfectly. Also the best customer service I ever had. Love the coat!

Wife liked it but didn't love it

Got this for my wife who is 5 foot 4 and 120 pounds. We bought a small. Fit was good up top but a little too flared below the waist. It is fairly warm and is good quality. However, for the price, she like the NF Heavenly better which was cheaper and had more features for skiing. The NF has better and more pockets and a slightly better fit. But no doubt, this Marmot is one nice coat, and is especially sweet on sale if you don't need a lot of skiing features.

Worth every penny!

This coat is form fitting around the waist giving it a more feminine feel. Its not super heavy but just enough to keep you toasty without all the added weight. The hood is reversible and the fur is detachable. I'm 5'5'', 160 lbs and a large fits perfect. I initially had purchased a medium but it was a little tight around the waist and shoulders. Exchanging was no problem and quick. The arms are a perfect length as well. The quality...A+! The only downside is I wish the pockets were deeper. This coat will definitely last me for years to come. I love that it is waterproof and the down filling feels like heaven. Definitely would recommend. You won't be sorry!!

Beautiful coat

I am petite 4"11" and unfortunately this coat was too long for me. I had to return it.

Love this jacket! It is a great color and really warm. I love the front pockets and instead burnt orange color as well.
