Rincon Pant

The Marmot Rincon Pant was designed for backcountry adventures and summer camping trips. Made to stand up to the burdens of rugged terrain, the cotton-poly blend provides comfortable protection when bushwhacking through overgrown trails as well as UPF 50 protection from the sun. The articulated knees contribute to the overall mobility of the pant, allowing for unrestricted movement when a hike gets steep and technical.

  • Hike into the alpine or just the backyard in these technical pants
  • Cotton-poly blend is stretchy and comfortable to wear during the day
  • Articulated knees offers a comfortable range of movement on the go
  • UPF 50 shields off Ultraviolet rays when hiking at high elevations
  • Zippered back and cargo pockets secure keys or phone while hiking

Good pants!

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: 28R

I bought these pants as a gift for my sister who does search and rescue and this is what she had to say: These pants are a polyester/waxed cotton blend making them feel a little more like canvas-type material, so they feel durable, but also lightweight. The waxed cotton gives them an extra sense of durability and, I’m assuming, water-resistance. As Marmot’s fit guide states they taper quite a bit below the knee, making the ankle opening pretty small to go over a boot, although it is possible. I normally wear a size 30” waist in Marmot, but these seemed to have a lot of extra fabric in the waist and in the front above the crotch so I ended up getting a size 28”.

At first glance the knees and rear of these pants seem to be double reinforced (doubling of the fabric for wear and tear prone areas), but in fact they are not. There’s only one layer of fabric, which is the same as the rest of the pants, although they’ve cut and sewn the pants together with seams that make it look like the rear and knees have been reinforced. I like this aesthetically, but also wish it were actually reinforced. The rear waistband is cut higher than the front which is nice, but it does pull away from your back when you squat down; although they’re high enough not to show your crack you do get a nice draft. All in all I like this pants, as I like most Marmot pants, but I definitely like the cut of the Highland pants better, which have a “relaxed” fit.
