Marmot Montreaux Down Coat - Women's
MarmotMontreaux Down Coat - Women's

A wintertime luxury.

The walk from your home to the corner café was a pleasant experience when the leaves were dressed in their full fall colors, but now that that the leaves are buried beneath a foot of snow and frost covers every car windshield along the street, you're going to want to wear the Marmot Women's Montreaux Down Coat to keep that walk enjoyable. The Montreaux's hydrophobic down fill retains insulating properties when you encounter light snow flurries—or spill a bottle of water down the front of the jacket—and a DWR finish repels everything from light precipitation to accidental coffee spills. The hood is equipped with a detachable faux-fur ruff for additional warmth during those brisk winter mornings, while a fleece-lined torso does its part to keep your core warm until you get a hot cup of coffee in your belly.

  • Down coat ensures warmth throughout winter's coldest days
  • Hydrophobic down insulation ensures reliable warmth
  • Water-resistant fabric protects against light snow flurries
  • Plush fleece-lined torso provides a cozy fit and feel
  • Down-filled hood with removable faux-fur ruff
  • Microfleece-lined handwarmer pockets keep digits warm
  • Internal zippered and drop pocket for carrying valuables
  • Long length provides additional coverage and warmth

Just ok

This coat is definitely warm, but I have had trouble with the zipper since the day I got it. The zipper is tricky! It takes me a couple tries to get it to zip.

Beautiful jacket

Like this jacket, it's warm, with good length and nice red color; but the fit is a little off because of the should distance. It is too narrow so the the parts of the shoulders would sit inside the sleeves. My wife has wide shoulder, medium in jacket or size 6 in suit in usual brands would fit. Unfortunately this one has to go back. Backcountry.com customer service is top notch.

Warm & Cozy but a little big

A number of reviews said the jacket ran small so I order a size up (XL) according to the size chart I am a Large. Received the jacket yesterday and it’s slightly to big even with a fleece underneath. I am returning the XL for an L, which will hopefully be a better fit. Coat appears to be well made and was definitely warm, can’t wait to get the new one!

They aren't kidding, it IS small.

I got in my Marmot Montreux today and was sad to see it is small, especially on the top half. If you are busty at all you will need to size up. Fit perfectly except on the top half. I usually wear 12/14 so I ordered a large. Tight on top. Love the coat...also the zippers could be more sturdy. North Face zippers work better.

Just in the nick of time!

I work in an office and try to go out for a walk each day. Living in Vermont, it can be difficult to find the motivation to do so. I received this coat just before temperatures plummeted well below zero. Wearing this coat, not only was I warm getting into my car in sub zero weather (internal thermometer inside the car was below zero), but I was able to continue my lunch time walks. I wasn't sure I was going to keep the fur attached to the hood, but after walking during a snow storm, I understand the benefit of the fur. I was actually able to look up and see where I was walking. I get many complements on this coat. It's a keeper!

As far as size, I purchased a large because things tend to be tight in the shoulders for me. A medium would have been too small for me.

This is a warm jacket - make no mistake about it. I ended up buying one for my wife and my daughter. They love it! Its a good looking coat that does exactly what you need it to do - keep you warm! The hood is not a floppy, oversized hood either. The hood is insulated and form fitting - in a good way - which will keep your brain nice and toasty! As the reviews indicate, the chest area runs a bit on the snug size. Something more endowed women should consider when contemplating purchasing this coat.

Lovely but runs really small

Comfy and warm but runs at least a size smaller. I normally wear medium, but couldn't even close it. Ordered both Large and XL to try both with a sweater.

Gift to my wife

  • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share
  • Fit: True to size

My wife tried this on when it first arrived, on a cold day. Her first comment was "I'm warming up already." I followed the many recommendations to order a size up. She was very happy with the size. She asked what size it was and said she has the room to move comfortably , and layer if she wishes. She has a warm winter coat however, it is only waist high and the Marmot Montreaux Down Coat hit's her knees and as such is better for the colder days. I hit a home run with this purchase. I will update this review as she uses it.

I've finally worn this baby in -8° weather and I must say, it did the job.
But I do wish it was a little longer.

My first Marmot

I just received my jacket Today.
I live in california so a jacket like this may seem unnecessary but I get cold and I am planning to visit my friend in Colorado in the near future (and Asia next year).
I was in between sizes so I decided to go with a Medium.
Apart from this jacket looking great and well made (I like the design much better than Patagonia Down with Parka as that one just fits like a long tube), this company’s dedication to customer satisfaction blew me away.

Each person I spoke to made sure I was getting exactly what I needed. What a great company!
I will definitely shop with them again.
Thank You!

Bought this jacket for my mom and she loves it. She recommends ordering up a size in it, especially if you plan on wearing layers under it.

This coat is exactly what I wanted to survive my first Chicago winter. It's perfectly warm, even when the temperature gets down to 0 degrees and below.
Beware it definitely runs small. I'm 5'6" 135" and I needed a Large.

This coat is nice and warm. It definitely exceeds my expectations. It would be nice if it was a little longer. But no biggie 😊

Provides warmth and style

My sister absolutely loves this coat. She had a hard time deciding between this coat and the Montreal but she tried both of them on and decided that she liked how this one was a little bit longer. She gets cold really easily and has always noted how cold she has been in the Utah winters but now she is not afraid to go outside as this jacket keeps her nice and warm. She typically wears this jacket horse back riding in the winter, ice skating at night, and does other activities orutside and this jacket keeps her warm through all of them.

I am around 5'5 and weigh around 150. I wear a large in shirts . I have a Aeropostale winter jacket in extra large. I was wondering which size you would recommend?

I am 5'3" and weigh around 160 lbs and somewhat busty and the Large works for me. As people have indicated, the coat is a bit more "fitted" in the chest area. Hope this helps. Good luck!

    BEST WINTER COAT EVER

It's been three years since I bought this coat and I have worn it almost daily every winter since and it still looks like new and I absolutely love and adore it. I live in NYC and winters can be brutal here (not as brutal as others, I know) without being able to get into your car to get places and having to walk many places to get around.

I can't adequately express how wonderful and warm this coat is and it looks great- I wear it around town, to work, ski trips, etc and is perfect for all of it. Even when it's bitter cold, I don't need a hat because the hood is so warm, I don't need gloves as the pockets have a very warm fleece lining and I don't need a scarf because the coat zips up to just below my nose and has a nice fleece lining around the neck. I find the sizing perfect - it fits great with just a long sleeve tee under it or with a bulky sweater. And lots of pockets for all my stuff! Try it, you won't regret it!!

    runs pretty true to size
