Can these also fit over snowboard boots?

Hey there Daniel!

I can't imagine these fitting over snowboard boots very well! These are more fitted for hiking, backpacking and mountaineering boots! These won't easily fit over ski or snowboard boots! I might look at something more like a softshell pant which would be more durable! A material like this might not be durable enough for something like skiing or snowboarding!

You can contact me directly to talk more about what you are doing and a great pant option for you! You can always hop on our live chat and talk with anyone for assistance! I hope you have an awesome day and thank you for asking us this question!

What is the inseam measurement of the large pants

going to colorado for christmas what kind of base layer do you recommend for trekking in the snow with these pants

I would wear a light layer, such as the http://www.backcountry.com/marmot-thermalclime-pro-tight-mens?s=a

How well will these fit over the La Sportiva Trango?

Hey John,

These would fit just fine over the Trango. It does have a snap closure at the bottom if it is tight but I do not see that being the case. And if you are wearing gaiters you can put those over the pants. Give me a shout if you have any other questions or if you want to put together and order. If they do not work out just give me a shout and I will get you a return label.

I wear a size 33w 34l in jeans usually and wear a 33 in prana brion pants. The Patagonia super cell pants I ordered in medium and they're too tight I the rear and waist, I have a hockey butt. Any recommendation on what to buy these in if I'm planning to wear over a low weight base layer? I'm not concerned about length because I almost always wear taller boots.

Best Answer

This run true to size, so I'd go with the Large (according to the size chart). XL might work too if you plan on wearing anything bulky.

Unanswered Question

Is the crotch zipper waterproof? I do a lot of canoeing and on most zippered rain pants the crotch zippers are not water proof. When it rains while you're sitting, the water tends to pool in that area and seeps in.

Would these be good for hiking in Peru?

Would these be good for hiking in Peru?

Best Answer

They're waterproof, breathable, and have good range of motion, but have no insulation whatsoever. If it's going to be cloudy and cool, I'd recommend finding some long underwear to wear underneath.

Gore-Tex Paclite is a phenomenal material for waterproofing and breath-ability. These will preform well in wet conditions, but as Angus has mentioned if it's cloudy and cool long some long underwear is a must.

Do these have belt loops or a waist drawcord...

Do these have belt loops or a waist drawcord ? Doesn't look like they do and as I am right at the lower end of the medium size range I worry about them staying in place without either of these.

Best Answer

These have an elastic, snap closure waist band which is great for adjusting when you're just right in between size ranges.

do these have any lining/insulation?

do these have any lining/insulation?

None. These are very solid, but basic, with no frills. The Paclite is all there is to it.

I usually wear pants with 32W 29L or 32W...

I usually wear pants with 32W 29L or 32W 30L. Which size should I pick for this model? M sounds too large while S is apparently too small. Do I have any other options? Thanks.

I would recommend you go with a Medium- it may have a little extra length, but with boots on it shouldn't be a problem!

Best Answer

I wear 30x30 normally and found that the S is a bit tight around the waist (probably more accurate to say its 29-29.5) but the 32L isn't a huge problem since you can pull these up and they'll stay because of the tight waist. Pulled up above my hipbone, these fit nicely although I still wish they came in a 30L.

Are the Marmot Minimalist men's pants...

Are the Marmot Minimalist men's pants available in large/long?

Unfortunately we will only be carrying them in the Regular lengths.

If you click on the size chart, the inseam lengths are listed for the different sizes as well.

Waist of pants

Notice the driclime lined waist. Also no waterproof zipper but it does have a button and flap. It does have a waterproof pocket.

Leg opening

This is the zipper and the foot opening. Not real long but enough to get some boots on. Not waterproof but with a flap and button. No extra padding so just raw GTX paclite. There is a cord to tighten them up but I have never used that.

Gusseted? Are these gusseted? I have a...

Are these gusseted? I have a pair of the old old model precip's and they have a bit of a gusset. I saw one review stating not for sports which leans me toward a negative on these because I ride mtb in pants like these all the time and prefer them over the lame racer type downhill pants i.e. Fox, TLD etc. Pants like these are kind of a pointless buy without a gusset.

Best Answer

Hey MB,

these pants are articulated, though they are not gusseted. The articulation allows for considerable movement, making them great for hiking, etc. but as mentioned in an earlier review not as much for biking, climbing etc. If you need a truly gusseted pant, you're better going with something else.

How to Measure:
For best results, take measurements over your underwear.
Measure under your arms, around the fullest part of your chest.
Measure around the thickest part of your neck, holding tape loosely.
Measure from the center of your back to your wrist with arms held out.
Measure around your natural waistline, keeping the tape a bit loose.
Measure around the fullest part of your body at the top of your legs.
Using pants that fit well, measure the crotch seam to the bottom of the leg.
