Marmot Montreaux Down Coat - Women's

A wintertime luxury.

Underneath its elegant design and rich details, the Marmot Women's Montreaux Down Coat is a cold-weather killer. The 700-fill down insulation's high warmth-to-weight ratio means you stay super warm without being weighed down by a heavy winter coat, and the down compresses easily for convenient packing on vacations. Marmot added its proprietary Down Defender treatment to the down so the feathers won't lose warmth if wetness happens to seep through the shell's DWR coating and the plush fleece lining's WR coating. The long length of this coat extends the down warmth past your mid-thighs so you stay extra cozy whether you're sporting slacks or boots, leggings, and a skirt.

The Montreaux also features an insulated hood that keeps your head nice and toasty so you don't have to squish your hair down with a beanie every day, and both the hood and its fashionable fur ruff are removable. Marmot lined the front pockets with micro fleece for a cozy feeling your fingers appreciate. The internal zippered pocket is the best place to protect your phone, and the internal drop pocket stores your gloves when you make it to work, completely warm and dry of course.

Color displayed is not accurate

  • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
  • Fit: Runs small

I already owned a "black" one but after 7 years of heavy use, it started to lose down fill and thin down. I can not remember the color description but it was not "black". I think it was like "steel". So I ordered steel onyx, thinking this is the same color. But it was not. Don't get me wrong! This is the warmest jacket I own (and I own Moncler, Patagonia, North Face, Arcyterix, Canada Goose...) . I am small (5'2 106 lbs) and size xs is perfect (I like the fact it snags as there is no room for a cold air to sneak in). I am slightly smaller than the typical XS, so you can say this runs a bit small.
The reason I am returning is the color. On the web, it looks dark grey (or closer to black) but the actual item looks light grey. It is not a pretty color. It looks industrial... sort of. I think the web page displays the black, not Steel Onyx.

Super warm and stylish

  • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share
  • Fit: True to size

I gave this as a gift and the recipient really liked it. Its a good length to give you more coverage and warmth without worrying about it dragging on the ground.

High quality down is a very efficient insulator thats great at trapping warm air and keeping it close to your body. The inside is lined with a soft microfleece material as well that adds to the warmth and comfort of the jacket. It is not waterproof but is water resistant to help shed light moisture.

The hood is removable which is a nice feature, and the fur is also removable from the hood so you have a few different ways you can wear it.

Looks great in person, not boxy or overly fitted, has a nice nice flattering feminine fit.

Nice but didn't work for me

  • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
  • Fit: Runs small
  • Size Bought: M

Really liked a lot about this coat -- the detailing and overall feel. But the fit wasn't quite right for me -- it was tight at the arms/chest but then very poofy at the bottom, which lets air in. Think the coat could be improved with a storm flap or at least a few snaps so that you don't have to zip up the coat every time you use it. Also a cinch at waist might help with the breeze

High Quality!!!

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: medium

I ordered a medium and it fits good in the sleeves and just above the knee. My only concern is the chest is a little snug with a sweater. Otherwise I love it! It looks very nice

Great Coat- A little snug

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: medium

I am 5 ft. 2 and about 140 pounds, bra size 34 DDD. Based on the reviews, I ordered a size L. As soon as it arrived, I tried it on gleefully and my husband immediately told me to order a M. He said the L looked so big, it looked like I was a little girl wearing her dad's coat. I must say it was comfortable, but the hood was so big it covered my eyes when I put it on. I ordered the M and it came in today. After trying them both on again and again, I decided to keep the M. It is a little snug in the chest, but I can wear heavy sweaters and suit jackets underneath and still zip it up without a problem. And, the hood does not cover my eyes. I love that the length is just under my knees. I can already tell it will keep my plenty warm in my first Chicago winter. It is well-made. I love the two-way zipper, the zippered pockets, the inside pockets, and the way sleeves have the extra fabric like a sweater so wind does not go up your sleeve. So excited to wear this coat this winter!

Runs Large

  • Fit: Runs large
  • Size Bought: small

I'm 5'5", 112 lbs. I ordered the small because I wanted to layer a sweater underneath. The coat was huge on, looked more like a sleeping bag on me. I can't comment on how it performs since I returned it. The one thing I couldn't get past was the color of the coat. I didn't like the color at all.

Medium too snug on size 8/10 Bust 36B

  • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
  • Size Bought: Medium and Large

And large size too big all over. Liked the colors. Crimson not "dark", steel onyx not dark for an onyx. olive ok. Liked the lighter color of faux fur trim especially on the steel onyx.. Fluffiness of fur varies coat to coat out of bag but all relaxed nicely a week out of the bag. I'm a 36B, not exactly large, but medium size is just a little too tight in chest and hips to keep. Hemline hit at mid knee on my 5'6" height which looked good. Large felt like wearing a baggy sleeping bag and hit at bottom of my knee. Like that2 way zipper goes all the way to hemline. Love the silky fleece lining in chest area, and the deep fleece lined pockets. Really wanted this one to be a keeper. Definitely warm enough for CO mountain winters.

Medium did fit my daughter who is 5'9" and 145lbs, athletic and slender. But she preferred Pantagonia Downtowner which is a little longer and more uniquely styled. I had same fitting problems with the Downtowner. The basin + range Evergreen and Skyline styles in Medium did fit me nicely, but I returned them for other reasons.

Kept me warm

Love the color and fit. The hood was perfect, it covered my head even with my hair in a bun. Kept me warm with weather in the teens. Definitely would recommend this jacket.
