Hidden gem.

Due to the lack of tourists, fall is usually considered the dead season in mountain towns, but those who stick around for the shoulder season know that autumn offers the most stunning scenery and best weather of the year—don the Marmot Women's Aruna Down Vest when you're on a hike to gaze at the orange- and yellow-tinted mountainside, or when you're strolling down main street with the sidewalks to yourself. Either way, its down insulation offers just the boost of lightweight warmth you need to stay comfy on crisp October days. Plus, it packs into its own pocket, so you can stow it away easily when you get a little warm during a sunny hike in the foothills.

  • A lightweight and packable down vest
  • Ripstop fabric with DWR finish sheds light rain and snow
  • Down insulation is warm and compressible
  • Flattering athletic fit reduces needless bulk
  • Stuffs into one of the hand pockets
  • Elastic hem seals out drafts

Nice vest, but ended up returning....

  • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: Small

This is a really nice vest, but I ended up returning it because I found a similar hooded version that I loved (also by Marmot) and decided to wait until next fall when additional sizes are available in that style. I purchased the Aruna in the Glacier Grey, Small. The size was perfect, the color was a nice light grey/white (slightly more grey than pictured), and the style was not overly puffy which I was looking for.

Had to return

The vest runs large and is very boxy looking. Plus the color didn't look the same, very "dull" greyish . Had to go back :((

Love, love, love

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I bought this vest on sale (great deal!), to wear during cold morning hikes. It packs up super small & I can stash it in the side pocket of my backpack as the day gets warmer. However, I am finding that I am wearing it almost daily this fall. I throw it on over a fleece & head out the door. I am curvy & it fits me perfect. It's soft & comfortable & I love the magenta color.

I'm 5'7" 125#, small breasted & long waisted. This vest fit perfectly. Often I have a hard time finding jackets/vests that are long enough, lean enough & without the boxy/hour glass "feminine" styling that looks overdone on me. This one has just enough feminity to be pretty, fit is excellent & the black will go with everything. I compared to Prana Lyra vest (built in boob seams are overdone! & zipper was too whimpy). Also tried Mountain Hardwear Ratio vest which is even longer, boxier & chevron baffling looked frumpy. The only detail I would add is fleece lining for the pockets.

    Feelin Good

    • Size Bought: Medium

I am 5'10" and purchased the Royal Night in size medium and instantly fell in love. The color has a purplish tone so it is not an overpowering blue. The length is fabulous and allows me to wear leggings. I am not into the big puffy stuff so this was a win since the puff sits flatter.

    Perfect Vest

    • Size Bought: Small

This vest is perfect for literally everything. I wear mine at least 5 days a week, over a flannel in my office, over my baselayer for skiing, as my jacket on a cool day. A great price for a high quality 600 fill down, water resistant vest. The fit is fantastic and the colors are popping. You can't go wrong here, it'll be something that gets used a lot!
